speedometer swap question

I have an 86 Trans Am with the elctric 80mph speedo. can I simply replace the 80 mph speedo with a 140 mhp speedo and be done with it?? or will the calibration of the speedo be off???I am not sure if the VSS is diff from automatics vs manual cars but this is on an automatic car if that matters.

For electric speedos 86-92 for firebirds, all you need to do is swap the speedos, nothing more.

Camaros were different. Either 90-92 or 91-92 were electric. Before that, cable driven.

So on my 92 RS I can swap my 110 right over for a 140 speedo out of another Camaro?

Yes, to verify what Firebat said, as long as it's from a 90-92 Camaro. Camaro speedos were cable-driven from 82-89.

so on a cable driven, what would we have to do in order to swap to a 145mph speedo from a 85mph speedo?

If both are cable-driven, swap the 85 out and install the 145. Might want to consided this:
