Re: Universal Seqqential Turn Signals - Round 3

No. The STS unit is a microprocessor controlled, circuit board, custom built unit.

A relay basically amounts to a remote mounted electrical "trigger" for higher voltages, so they don't lose voltage through lengthy wiring.

Here is a pic of it with the install instructions.

does one unit work for both left and right taillights?

if you can e-mail me at robertmaxbarbieri@yahoo.com we can discuss this further in greater detail.

Yes. 1 unit controls both sides.

Re: Universal Seqqential Turn Signals - Round 3

OK.....

I'm down to 5 units, and don't want M.O. coming in, but have Paypal payments come in first, then not have a unit to ship out for a M.O. payment.

That being said.....NO MORE M.O. PAYMENTS

If you have a M.O. in the mail, please PM me so. I keep getting "I'll sens a M.O. tomorrow, but a week later,,,2 weeks later, no M.O. shows, and that person doesn't respond to PMs, since I'm trying to find out that if they DID, the M.O. got lost in the mail, but as far as I can tell, that has never happened. No "I sent one in." but it never arrived.

Re: Universal Seqqential Turn Signals - Round 3

Just stumbled across this thread, so let me get this straight...
I have a 91 Camaro so 1) I paint the amber turn signal red, 2) I change the wiring as per the article in the link, 3) buy and install the kit and I have sequential tail lights like the Murcury Cougars of the 1970's? COOL!

Correct.

Although at this time, NO orders will be accepted this week. I don't wanna take Paypal payments, then have M.O.s show up in the mail, but have nothing to ship.

These are not simply bought at wholesale, then me reselling them. They are a custom designed circuit board, then hand assembled/soldered, one by one.

Not even certain if a Round 4 would happen, short of 20 pre-pays....the circuit boards are built in batches of 20.

No relays in our design. This is all solid-state technology, only electronic components, no moving parts.

I'll give the M.O.s a week to arrive. That should be enough time, as the last one I was told was on it's way, but late last week

No show? And I'll take Paypals. Wouldn't be first M.O. that never showed.

Re: Universal Seqqential Turn Signals - Round 3

Last Wed. I said a week, but ZERO PMs have arrived, and only 1 M.O. (came in Sat.).

So...Anybody wanna Paypal, I've got 3 left...

Paypal $50, including shipping, to SteveCranford@Austin.rr.com
Payments received bu 4:30pm today, will ship today.

I'll update this page as payments come in.

Credit Card funded Paypal payments will only be accepted, due the high transaction cost, for the extra $5 fee. For $55, I will accept Credit Card funded transactions.

The brakes flash 1, 2, 3...Then all 3 stay lit, until the pedal is released. On the Hazards, they will continue to sequence. My avatar is the Hazard lights.

Only 3 left, so Paypal only now.

SamYouAre
just want to make sure that you realize that this is for tail lights with multiple red bulbs per side. Our Camaros are not set up for this from factory, you'll have to modify your tail lights and wiring.

I wouldn't want you to spend $50 on the unit and then find out later that it won't work for your car.

But if you are planning on modifying the tail lights and wiring, you'd be the first person with an STS on a Camaro and I want to see pictures and video!!

Well.....I've had a couple of others say they were doing the amber to red conversion, and sold the STS units to Camaro owners, but have yet to see videos of a Camaro with STS. Lots of triple red Camaro tail light conversions, but no videos of a triple red Camaro with STS.

Heck, I might even do it one day.
I sure want to do the amber-to-red conversion but am still not convinced I want STS. But if you bug me enough, I might do it.

91/92 Firebird instructions are included, and the 91/92 'birds were switched over to the Camaro style wiring, for the separate tail & brake wires, since the 4th gens were fixing to come out.

I gave 2 left, but only 1 of them is ready to ship right now. Gotta finish the last one. Moving & unpacking has kept me busy. Besides, the last few orders have been SLOW coming in.

Yes LAST ONE left....

By Paypal deposited funds only, not credit credit or debit card funded. If funded by cards, add $5 to cover the Paypal transaction fee they charge, for $55 total. That includes shipping in the 48 states

Paypal to SteveCranford@Austin.rr.com

I'll post when the last one sells. No current plans for another batch, except for a vendor possibly picking them to sell retail.

RE: STS on an 88 bird.

Heyo! Can you fire me a pic of your installation of the turn signal wiring for the 88 firebird? I picked up an STS module from stephen, but lost the instructions to wire it up!

Cheers,
Gabe

Re: Universal Seqqential Turn Signals - Round 3

Got my STS unit a few weeks ago and finally got it in. Over all it was pretty easy to wire up. They do seem to flash fast so I’ll have to see if I can find a slower flasher. Anyone have any ideas?

I have a video, but it’s a large file. Maybe I can get my hubby to make it a little smaller. The only problem I have is the two new sockets aren’t lighting up quite like I expected. They are dim and many times don’t light up at all, especially on the left side. Does anyone have any ideas? Could it be the way I wired it up?

http://80sknight.homedns.org:8080/JennTail/

Even with that minor problem I still like them. Thanks guys for putting them together.

Yes, the flashers on some cars are slightly faster which doesn't allow the outermost lightbulbs to turn on fully and they look dim.
Slowing down the flasher is the solution. You can buy 5 flashers and 5 of them will be faster than your current one. Or you can buy 5 flashers and 5 of them will be slower than your current one. It's hit-or-miss. Hard to tell, they're not calibrated.

You can also install one of the aftermarket adjustable flashers. I've seen them for $12 or so.

Hope this helps.
Lou

Interesting the way your drivers side, outermost bulb sometimes work, sometimes doesn't. Bad connection to that bulb? Bad bulb?

You know....Outta 60 units sold, I think that is video #3! Several said they were going on Camaros, but no Camaro video yet.

Re: Universal Seqqential Turn Signals - Round 3

I'm considering LED bulbs since they turn on/off MUCH faster, & the 3rd bulbs should light before the flasher turns off.

Re: Universal Seqqential Turn Signals - Round 3

Hi guys. Thanks for responding so fast.

Hey Lou, do you have any links to the adjustable flashers? I like that idea, and it might be the best way to slow them down.

I wondered the same thing about the bulbs. I went through the wiring twice checking all of the connections and making sure they were tight. Maybe I missed something. I even reconnected each wire to the STS box, just to make sure that was good. Oh, we also chucked one bulb, put in a new one and changed bulbs around to make sure the bulbs were all good.

Steve, I have been thinking about doing the LED's too. I really like the idea and I've been watching the other thread about it. I think the STS will look really nice with them... and you can control more of the resistance.

I just did a search for wiring. I've tried a few different ways and I was wondering which way Lou did his wiring. Maybe going over the wiring again will help correct the problem.

Thanks again guys.

Lou's lazy... No amber to red conversion or STS on his Camaro.

He seems to think housing needs (fixes/upgrades/improvements) are more important than modding his car!

Re: Universal Seqqential Turn Signals - Round 3

Well, we need to find a decent board manufacturer first (anybody know any companies in Mexiko?).
And if we get lucky, round #4 might happen. But as with batch #3, some pre-pays would be required.
So no promises right now.
