Another game of...."NAME THAT CONNECTOR!"

ALRIGHT! WHO'S READY TO PLAY THIRDGEN.ORG'S FUNNEST GAME!

"NAME THAT CONNECTOR!!!"

Oh boy, today we got a couple doozy's. Our victim is an 83 Z28 which HAD a canadian LG4, no computer controlled carb. with an empty engine bay and unlabelled wiring! woooooo hooooo! (oh yeah and no A/C)

Ive figured out 20% of the wiring (about 2 wires) so here she goes.

Connector #1 As seen in figure 1, this beast likes to live near the battery tray i believe, its long and comes from the passenger side fender/firewall. Shes got 3 wires coming from it. they appear to be 2 green and 1 blue, the two greens are intertwined to make this a 2 contact connector, 1 green and the blue go into the aforementioned harness leading into the fender/firewall on passenger side, the other green is a loose strand with a cut off end...

Connector #2 As seen in figure 2, this baby hangs from the main engine wiring harness, it is a 3 conductor connector, with the conduits shaped liek |_| and there are 2 black (ground?) wires on one, 1 dark green and one light green, i am colorblind but i believe these colors are correct.

Connector #3 shouldn't be to hard to identify. It is the only wire with a rubber connector shaped as a circle, the wire is a bright color (possibly yellow, again im colorblind) and it only has 1 wire going to it, and it is FEMALE. She also hangs off the main engine wiring harness.

All joking aside, I'd really appreciate if someone could help me out with this. It's really hard/impossible to find a NON ECM, 83 LG4 wiring diagram. So any assistance here is treated as gold right now. Thanks.

Dont worry folks, due to the 3 file upload limit. This post will end, more are on the way! So stay tuned for some more... "NAME THAT CONNECTOR!!!!"

Now back to "NAME THAT CONNECTOR!!"

Ok, here it goes.

Connector #4, she is a single wire connector, she is female, with what appears to be 1 brightish green wire going to her, She appears to have 2 clips or something (as seen in figure A) and she branches off the main wiring harness alongside the temperature sensor connector.

Connector #5, is a weird contraption of some kind, as well. wow... K so what we got is a thick red wire Going into a connector, there is a plug in this connector with a black wire coming out of it, leading upto a black circular female connector, with a tiny hole. (as seen in figure B)

Re: Another game of...."NAME THAT CONNECTOR!"

The third one looks alot like a knock sensor connector....not sure if that particular motor came with one, but thats what it looks like to me.

As far as diagrams, I've attached what I could find. Hope it helps.

Re: Another game of...."NAME THAT CONNECTOR!"

The third connector looks like the oil pressure gage sending unit connector if it's located near the firewall.

Re: Another game of...."NAME THAT CONNECTOR!"

Thanks guys, ill go home tonight and see if i can get a signal from #3 to the oil pressure gauge.

KC, the canadian version has no ecm, which makes this all the more difficult.

Re: Another game of...."NAME THAT CONNECTOR!"

I'm pretty sure the oil pressure sender uses 3 wires.....and you said #3 is on the main harness on the PASSENGER side towards the firewall? If so, id venture to say it isnt oil pressure as the senders are on the drivers side of the block.

Re: Another game of...."NAME THAT CONNECTOR!"

3rd is oil pressure sender, cannister type at rear of intake manifold.

5th, connects to the underhood light mounted on the hood near firewall
