Speed Sensor Compatibility

Would I be able to take the speed sensor off my '91 RS Camaro and install it in my '86 Trans Am? They both appear to be electric gauges. There isn't a speed sensor in the Trans Am at the moment, but there is one in the Camaro that has a bad transmission anyways. Just wondering if I could take it out and put it in the Trans Am.

Re: Speed Sensor Compatibility

TBI VSS should be a 2,000ppm unit as well as the older TA

You should be ok. The connectors will be different thou

The TA will use the left connector and the RS will use the right connector

Re: Speed Sensor Compatibility

Take the connector with the sensor... Be warned that you may have to cross the wires to get it to work (yellow to purple and purple to yellow).

Re: Speed Sensor Compatibility

If I have to splice the wires, that's fine. Wouldn't be the first time I've had to do it.
