Re: 1LE Aluminum Driveshaft for sale
How is a "1LE driveshaft" different from any other standard aluminum driveshaft?

Re: 1LE Aluminum Driveshaft for sale
It's not a 1LE driveshaft unless it actually came out of a 1LE optioned car and even if it did its still just a JG1 aluminum driveshaft like all the other JG1 aluminum driveshafts installed in other 3rd gens for whatever rhyme or reason GM decided a car needed a JG1 aluminum driveshaft. Most likely EPA C.A.F.E. standards. You couldn't order a new 3rd gen with a JG1 aluminum driveshaft. It either came with one or it didn't. It wasn't standard equipment on any model 3rd gen or part of an option package except for one option package. Third gens with the 1LE option package came standard with a JG1 aluminum driveshaft.
Lots of people call them 1LE driveshafts because the JG1 driveshaft was part of the 1LE package. Like how people call everything that looks like a Crescent Wrench or Vice Grips by the brand name even though the wrench or pliers aren't that brand.
The JG1 aluminum driveshaft is for weight savings on IROC-Zs, Z/28s, Trans Ams, and GTAs that are big fat porkers because someone checked off every box they could on the option order sheet. It's on the 1LE cars for weight savings and performance because lighter weight is better performance and it's less rotational mass to accelerate and decelerate. They also seem to be better balanced and run smoother.
