I have a 92 camaro with the t-5 5 speed. I am in need of the part of the slave cylinder assembly that goes in the side of the trans. I am not sure what this part is called as it is not the actual slave cylinder. It has a large spring and cup that comes out of the end and there are 2 mounting holes on the outer plastic housing that a bolt passes through. Anyone know what I am talking about? Does anyone have one?
i'm not sure what your describing. I've replaced my whole hydrolic assembly recently and what your describing doesnt make sence to me.
There is the resevoir that holds the fluid, then a tube that attaches to the resevoir and the master cylinder. The master cyinder is connected to the pedal and another hydrolic hose comes from the master cylinder and goes to the slave cylinder which bolts to the trans with a shield to protect it from heat. The slave is held on by two bolts that pass through the two mounting holes in the slave cyl. The slave cyl has a pushrod with a little ball or "cup" on the end that pushes into the clutch fork. here is a diagram.
I did some research and what I needed was indeed the slave cylinder. The cylinder is there and I found a rod with the rubber sleeve over it laying on the floorboard so i may have a complete slave cylinder now but I am wondering if I should just replace it.
You can get a stock plastic replacement slave from NAPA surprisingly cheap ($60-70 Canadian here) or upgrade to the aluminum one marketed through Wagner,Dorman and others (all pn SC126869) for not much more. Although that full assembly fromsrHansen78 sounds good.
