tbi to tpi wiring questions

ok, my 92 rs 305 tbi, will be recieving the 91 tpi unit from my z28 that i am parting out. how much of the wiring do i need, and please be specific, as i am not a wiring harness guru...yet
from dismantling my dash, what i have found is...the ecm and another metal box that i do not know what it is.
all of the wiring under the hood...what's the best way to make it simple, (what do i need, like inj. wiring, etc, and what don't i need and what is the best way to hook it all up)
if this isn't that difficult, i may attempt it myself, but like i said, i don't like wiring
the inside wiring, like the gauge cluster, etc. i am selling the dash, and i need to know what i have to keep, so i don't give the buyer things i would have to hunt down later.
i don't think that i forgot anything
thanks for any help, sorry this is kind of long-winded

Well, you're in the right area, as you already have a donor car. TAKE THE WHOLE HARNESS FROM THAT TPI AND SAVE IT. Undo the passenger side inner fender, and towards the psgr door you will see the harness going into the car. Undo the harness at the ECM (silver box) and take the harness out that way. It connects at the firewall too near the master cylinder. Undo it there, and take the whole engine harness right out with the engine. Are you changing engines too, or just changine the injection setup? It would probably be easier to just change the engines without dismantling everything. The TPI ECM and harness should be a direct fit. You will need a TPI fuel pump (just grab it out of the donor car if it's good). Hope that helps. If you need more detail feel free to ask.

thanks for the help.
i am selling the dash and gauge cluster to someone else and i don't know which wires he needs vs. what i need. (he is converting his 85 iroc to my style of gauges. i assume that i can give him the stuff that is directly connected to the cluster, and thats it, but you know what happens when you assume

and im just installing the tpi setup to my LO3 block, since the motor still checks out ok. on the tpi board someone quoted me at 17hp and 70 tq rear wheel gains. well, i get the dash all the way out tomorrow, so i'm sure i'll have some more questions.
thanks again

If it's under your hood, keep it for yourself, you'll need it. Your existing dash harness in the RS should work just fine. Take your time and swap everything over so it's identical. Is the TPI engine junk, or not as good condition as your RS?

Yeah.. I agree with Quick TransAm....

Actually, if you have the time and space... I'd suggest completely going through your entire car. You're going to need EVERYTHING.. the computer, the wiring harness.. you name it. All the sensors.. everything.

If the body of the TPI car is fine, you might be better off swapping all the GOOD stuff from your currently running car, to the non running car.. including the motor. That would be the easiest way in my opinion.

well, right now i'm in the process of gutting EVERYTHING. anything on the inside of the car that can be removed is going, along with most of the stuff under the hood. i am about 70% done with the interior
the body of the tpi car is nowhere near the shape of the rs (except for the front end, but im fixing that), plus, the rs is a 5spd. and the tpi car is an auto.
i figured id have to save the wiring under the hood, and i have the ecm out, just got to sort out the wiring.
ill post some pics. when i get a chance
