GM Crate 350 HO into '84 'bird V6
Greetings,
I read the FAQ at the top about swapping a V8 in for a V6, and have a couple questions...
As for the wiring harness, I'm looking at getting the 350 HO deluxe crate engine, so what kind of engine harness would I have to get for that? Would it work to get one out of a later model V8 'bird or maro? The V6 is of the carb'd variety, fyi. Also, any guess as to what else I'm looking at needing to get for the swap? I was assuming exhaust, radiator, most accessories, motor mounts (obviously) and a new tranny...Leaning towards a t-56 (Another question I guess, would this bolt right to the crate engine?)...I plan on having someone else put the engine in, but I figure it'd be best if I had pretty much everything they needed before hand...
Thanks a bunch guys!
Miah

A carb'd V8 harness would be the easiest. Carb'd V6 next. Since you're getting the HO Deluxe, I assume you aren't going to worry about computer stuff.
Don't forget throttle cable and tachometer. A factory V8 car would be the best source for all of this. Either buy a whole car, or find one in the boneyard that you can strip of all you need.
A T56 that bolts to an LT1 would bolt to the HO.
This is usually hobbiest-type work. I hope you have found someone who has done this type of work before, and is doing it as much as a favor as for business.
