Quick Question

I have an 87 v6 2.8. I am looking to swap in a 350 tpi from a parts car. I know the ecm and everything needs to be changed over and my original plan was to go with a 350tpi parts car from 87-89 but i have a chance to pick up a 350tpi 92 z28. Will the ecm, and everything else be possible swap or will there be complications becuase of the changes made from these years?

Also did they make a 92 Z28 350tpi 5 speed or only 350tpi with auto trans?

Thanks

Re: Quick Question

350=auto only......Ever (in 3rd gens).

As for your early V6 to late TPI 350 swap.....

Your gonna have a lot of wiring differences to tackle. V6 to V8 unsuccessful swap

Re: Quick Question

Although many have done the conversion and made the T5 survive, GM never put the T5 behind a 350. The biggest engine that got the T5 was a 305. GM knew the transmission wouldn't be reliable behind the power of a 350.

It all depends on how you drive.

Re: Quick Question

I've converted three cars from TBI to speed density 90-92 TPI, and a TBI 4.3 to 350TPI. I've never done one of these v6s. Separating the Engine harness from the chassis harness wasn't insanely difficult with good wiring diagrams. Just don't expect to do any of this under any kind of time constraint. It could be done in one weekend with experience and good help but I would just get some good diagrams and take it nice and slow.

Re: Quick Question

I forgot to add. I will not be doing the work at all, there is a garage who will be doing the swap for me. So you guys would recommend finding an 87-89 camaro 350tpi parts car rather than the 90-92 or since i am not doing the work would you recommend going with the 90-92?
