98 coolant temp sensor/gauge

For anyone that has done the ls swap and maintained stock gauges, specifically the temp gauge. What wire on the connector, (blue, green or black) assuming black will connect to Black on the PSI harness. I have a blue wire and greenish wire left on the connector end and have my dark green wire for the gauge and a yellow wire left from the PSI harness. Has anyone done this using the 98 camaro sensor and a PSI harness?

Re: 98 coolant temp sensor/gauge

Function: The 3 wires are Ground, Eng Temp to PCM and Eng temp to dash cluster. FYI the Throttle body TPS sensor and 3-wire Engine Temp sensor are identical and can be swapped. Just the color wires are different to each plug. (...) (from: AG's LS3 swap guide)

Pinout: brown top left (ECT ground), yellow top right (ECT signal), gauge wire is bottom center if you decide to use it. (...) that's looking at the sensor side of the plug. (from: ls1tech forum)

You never know if these companies are following GM color codes. Look at the terminal labels on the connector body itself and you can't go wrong.

Terminal 1, sensor ground to ECM
Terminal 2, sensor signal input to ECM
Terminal 3, wire to your gauge pod
