Ive driven by many other cops though and as long as you arent in it they dont look twice usually. I had mine done at Mufflex in Trenton NJ. The guy Denny from Mufflex knows his **** and did a super clean install at a reasonable price. The looks of the shop can be deceiving but the quality of the work isnt, hands down thats the place to go. As for drone its not that noticable unless you hit the parkway then at certain RPMs itll drown the radio out if its on low. For me its a 2nd car so I dont mind the noise or the attention it gets from cops. For loudness though I think its about perfect, it was exactly what I wanted and it looks good to boot. If I ever get another 3rdgen chances are that one will have a SLP LM as well.

Greeeat that made me feel much better As for Mufflex, Yep I've actually been there twice before with my camaro, they put on some tailpipes for me before and also a new edelbrock Y-pipe and they had to make part of it beacuse I didn't have the crossover pipe, unfortunally they left me leaving there with another exhaust leak that time beacuse the pipe they made didn't line up with the header flange exactly and the donut gaksets kept squashing.. I managed to fix it myself, Mufflex is about 45 mins from me so its a pain to drive all the way down there, but they do all kinds of stuff there.. As loud as the exhaust would be with it, I could always drown the exhaust out with my stereo, no problem heh. Guess I'll have to decide..

is the flange something you Have to make for it to fit?? Will it reach to where the stock dual cats are(the hog ring)???
No the flange wasnt necessary. If i chose not to use it, the install prolly wouldnt have been so bad. But at least now, when i do headers, I can take the center section down to do any other work. Also, the Flowmaster system was fulley welded, it was also a way of making a cleaner install. The passengerside hanger was a PITA. Had one bolt holding it to the frame, it kept shifting on me, had to reinfoce it a lil, till i can get something better up there.

Ohhhhh....

You guys are making me want to get one of those "4th gen"
SLP loudmouth systems!

I have changed my mind! I will go with the loudmouth instead
of the Flowmaster American Thunder system.

You guys did an awesome job! I love that " no muffler"
setup under the rear!

I have a single cat exhaust, so I take it that it's not as bad
to make it fit?

I think someone should make a tech article on "how to install
a 4th gen SLP loudmouth exhaust system into a thirdgen",
as a guide. I know that some people have dual cats, but most of
us have the single cat, so in any case, that would be cool!
If no one does make an article by next summer, I will post one!

lol, i took mine down the street altho its alll apart, it sounds GREAT, at wot i get a lot of bark but ill fix that with a bullet muffler. its not overly loud at all either, i like it a lot. tested out the volume of it in front of my ex gfs house, got first and second gear, sounded sweet, lol.

now why would you go and put a bullet muffler on an exhaust that was designed to work without a muffler. why bother getting a loudnouth when your just gonna add a muffler anyway

apparently u havent driven on yours, or even done any research on the exhaust. 99% of LM owners replace the resonator with a bullet muffler, ever heard the term "dynomouth"'borlamouth"? yeah thats cause people are usin the borla XR1 race mufflers and dynomax Bullets. the rasp and drone with the stock resonator will drive u insane. the race mufflers quiet it down and makes it sound better.

well if thats the case then why not just replace your muffler with a bullet muffler instead of buying the loudmouth? I bought my loudmouth becuz its loud. I dont drive my car everyday. For the ones that do and feel that the exhaust is too loud, well, to bad you knew it was gonna be loud when you bought an exhaust called LOUDMOUTH. you spend $350 on a nice stainless cat back and then decide that its too loud and end up welding in a POS dyno crap muffler. Ya that makes perfect sense to me

I am planning on hooker 2055s and then getting a shop to mandrel bend me a 3" system back to a spintech race muffler that will dump. Now you all got me thinking about the LM system. Will this system bolt directly up to the new y-pipe (single cat.)? Will it require any other special bends in the tubing included with the kit? I'm sure the LM will even be louder than the spintech pro shoot out, but I have a feeling the spintech will give a "beefier" or "lumpier" sound (with new engine & cam) than the LM, but I think the LM will just be plain out loud and will not show any of the nice cam? Sorry if I don't make sense. Am I wrong here? Thanks everyone.

I helped my friend put his Loud Mouth on a about 3 years ago on his 2000 SS. Sounded great, until he put MAC mid lengths an a off road y-pipe. Sounds WAY too raspy now. I think it sounds good if you have cats, without...too raspy.

just got me a loudmouth

i just installed my loudmouth in my front yard on my '84 3rd gen... i bought the catalyst adapter from slp and it made it pretty much bolt right up.. i had to cut up and shall we say ghetto fab ! the flange on the cat/exhaust.. so far only problem im havin for some reason is its hittin the yoke during hard braking.. gets on my nerves .. guess ill heat it up with a torch and bend it some.. but with my cam (in sig).. all i got to say is the police will defintley be attracted to me.. i had a dynomax cat back.. and i was dissapointed as to why it my cam didnt reall shall we say "hit a lick" .. but with the loudmouth.. jesus.. almost too loud.. i had it runnin open headers for awhile.. and there was a noticeable difference between loudmouth and open headers.. as in less trashy sounds,.. but loudness wise.. its not that much quieter to me .. lol..

corey

p.s. i love it

Bullet Muffler On a Loudmouth? If your gonna do that, you might as well get a shop to fab up a setup like mine. $175! And with a Bullet Muffler and a 3 inch Catco it is STILL loud. Bullet Muffler helps a little bit at idle, But my car is louder then my dad's tuck and he has a cat and straight pipes.

Hey 91TPI5.7 i know this is a little bit off the topic of mufflers but i was wondering what paint you used on your floor pan? and on the differential?

I used regular gloss black rustoleum on the surfaces that were still in good shape. I am gonna get some POR 15 in the spring and take care of any rusted spots. Which are very little, but the rustoleum should prevent it from getting any worse.

Oh, and thanx for all the compliments guys, I'm lovint the exhaust everytime i turn the key.
