Picked up the Hooker Y and 3" setup
When my car had the original L03, I was running a flowmaster 80 series, hooker 2460s, and a hacked up turd of a y pipe which I had made at the cheapest exhaust shop I could find at the time (it was my daily driver, and I didn't have money at the time). The y pipe was a hedman unit, modified to fit the hooker shorties. To my delight, it leaked from day one. The rest of the exhaust was a nother P.O.S. which consisted of 2 1/4 pipe.
Never really made much of a difference to have the leak on the L03, but when I dropped in my new 355 last December, that was a different story. Engine specs are in the sig. I went through $60 in collector gaskets trying to get the darn thing to seal. The car would run pig rich always due to the leak, and die from time to time as it would start surging at low rpm.
I got fed up, and picked up the new Hooker Y pipe recently. I had the y pipe cut at the intersection from both banks, and ran 3" mandrel bent pipe all the way back to the muffler. I was very happy with they work they did at Miami Muffler. They took their time, but they were very detailed. I'll post some pics shortly.
The difference between now and before it pretty significant. I knew the engine was being choked off with the crappy 2 1/4 exhaust, but I never thought it was going to make as big a difference as it did. It pulls a hell of alot harder now once you mash the pedal down. Anyway, heres a pic of the y pipe when it came in. I had to wait on it forever since it was on backorder.
