piping/undercoating question
well my camaros goin to be back on the road in april and its a 350 out of a k5 and 700r4 nothing special, but im running hedman full lengths, my first plan was to run headers and 18 inches of straight pipe, but since i have factory undercoating, (Norwood, cant get any better) my old man says one good fireball will ruin it, now im running each pipe in front of the rears, again straight pipes. my question is when i put the exhaust on the drivers side will the undercoating take it because that sides never seen heat before? and is that undercoating stuff at autozone any good for touch ups

Re: piping/undercoating question
Not sure if the exhaust would hurt the undercoating, but you could always just put a set of turndowns on the end of the pipes. That way, if any flames do come out, they'll be directed away from the floor.

Hey 305,
Your not gonna believe this but I have a customer coming to my shop (I'm a mechanic) who has been undercoating his EXHAUST PIPES during his regular oil changes and the damn car is now 10 yrs old and has the original pipes!!! When i saw him doing it the first time I warned him of a possible fire and he laughed at me and did it anyway!!! I would never suggest this to anyone but thought you'ld get a laugh out of this one. CRAZY. He has never had a problem!!!
