Angled plugs and stock manifolds

My question is: Has anyone tried running stock manifolds on the Corvette heads?

My guides are shot, and my plugs are fouling in less than 1,000 miles. I'm not looking for comments telling me that I should get headers. In an ideal world... I am just looking for an answer from someone who might have tried this and likely failed. I'm looking at 14101128 heads, so they don't have the raised D-shaped exhaust ports, so stock manifolds would fit in that regard.

Re: Angled plugs and stock manifolds

from what i remember, the coolant passage is different on the corvette heads than the firebird / camaro heads so you'd have to do some extra work on that too. BUT to answer your question the best i can. i am not sure if it would work, the angle may wind up pushing the boot right into the manifold. if you are determined on doing corvette heads, maybe check out how much work would be necessary to make corvette heads / exhaust manifolds work with your car.....just a thought.

I've never heard any such thing about the coolant passages. Are you sure you're not thinking of the LT1 heads?

Coolant passages are the same on the 128s and 113s as the stock iron heads. I just put a set of ported 128s on a bird.

Re: Angled plugs and stock manifolds

Has anyone tried to use stock exhaust manifolds on angled-plug heads? The driver's side looks suspicious.
