LT1 headers available anywhere?
Anyone know if anyone still makes headers for a third gen with an LT1 swap? Searches only bring up old info.
It's a 92 Trans Am convertible and the motor is from a 95.
thanks.

Nothing specific to an LT1 in a thirdgen as far as the headers are concerned. Use thirdgen F-body specific headers for a small block chevy. If you search for LT1 headers, you'll get options for a C4 Corvette or 4th gen F-body, neither of which will fit in a thirdgen F-Body.

LT1/4 heads used a similar exhaust pattern, and in most cases, you can use stock SBC headers on the LT1.
The major difference is that the ports are roughly 1/8" up higher than on an SBC. In many cases, they line up well enough that it doesn't matter, but in some cases you can fix it by slotting the bolt holes in the flange slightly. I'm running LT1 heads on my LB9 (305 SBC) and am running standard headman shorty headers, I've run them both stock and with the bolt holes slotted to line them up better when the heads were ported. I used a set of LT1 head gaskets (raised D-port gaskets) to determine exactly how much I wanted to move them. The y-pipe still fit, but I also cut my flanges off before installing and welded v-bands, which if anything are bulkier than the stock flanges.
The end bolt holes on some SBC/LT1 heads have double bolt holes and there are a few headers that use it. I don't know of any 3rd gen headers that this would cause a problem with but I would double-check that you won't have any issues before you disassemble to install.

That said, it's MUCH easier and usually cheaper to just use 3rd gen headers.
