4th gen firebird top dash, how to make one?

Well, I don't really want to pay 100-200 dollars for a top dash and then have to cut it up to get it to fit. I'm considering making a fiberglass one. Any idea on how I would go about doing that with keeping the windshield on? Would a fiberglass one be cheaper, if I made one?

I will say that it will not be cheaper to make one. I am sure you can get one from the junk yard cheaper than the materials required for making a dash, just get to know your local yards.

I have known many people that have gotten deals from the junk yard for just being in the right place at the right time. If you really want to make something, maybe a center console might be a little easier.

Good luck

bad thing is that here in nebraska, 4th gens never make it to the junkyards, someone always buys them first and parts them out.

Ok, I'll scrap that idea since its going to cost more and just save up for one.

i got 2 from the junkyard. a mint one, and one broken. obvisously a broken one wont sell, so i told the guy what i was doing and he gave it to me since i bought a good one.
it was cracked in 2 pieces, which was great. i had a drivers side and a passenger side templete. i cut and cut till it was right, then marked it on the good one and cut it while i sweated bullets, hoping it wasnt going to break.
dremel is your friend.
good luck.

SHOP AROUND!!!
lowes, home depot, walmart, etc.... they ALLLLLL seem to have different kits, with storage boxes and different tools. noone seems to carry the exact model, maybe dremel caters a certain model to a given store. its worth comparing.
good luck. sometimes you can get a nice case and a whole bunch of accessories cheaper than just the tool......
