Not sure I'm fond of the round lights, but I definately like the idea of shortening the rear bumper. I think that the only thing the overhang does is collect dirt.
Anyone else done something like this?

Too many curves, needs to borrow from an '80s Ferrari design IMO.

The idea of the shaved bumper is different.
As for the lights, it's fibreglass so I gather you could make your own lenses fit.
Only thing I can add is if you shave the rear you'll have to do a 'Foose' on the rest of the body as it just won't look right - kinda looks like a new 'T-Bird to me - err Thunderbird.
Do the whole body or none at all is what I say, IMHO.

What about the deck lid for the hatch? Is it a vert? I agree with the taillights should of kept the originals and worked off of that, but hey gotta admit it its unique and one of a kind. As Gregzz4 said gotta "foose" the whole car now to fit the rear lol. Maybe this is just a start for the rest idk lol.

So here's another update on this guys build. Bumper is in primer and ready for paint. One thing I definately don't like is that he stuck the rear of an '09 Mustang on the camaro to get rid of the hatch.... but I will admit that it is some good fab work

You know I try and look at the positive on this on cause its unique...but that poor camaro idk its weird with the hatch. If you look the interior was changed to match the hatch looks to be a 2 seater now. The bottom of the bumper I know I dont agree with should of just kept the ground effects lines all the way around the car, but hey again who am I to complain its his car his dream I'm not gonna moan or groan about the looks...those fenders meh. Gotta recognize the work and man hours to put it all together...needs work on the lines though could of matched the bumper to the quarter panel better and the trunk lines to the quarter panel, but I'm trying not to complain. I'm gonna be quiet now lol.

I'm not one for body kits.

However I have to say I like the rear end, I wouldn't have noticed that it was from a 05 stang (and thats a good thing), I wonder if there are any pics showing the full car, even in primer.

Its funny, when I first saw this thread I thought, "huh someone has the same Idea as me" but then it turned out to be alot different. What I thought he meant was just taking the rear bumper (bumper cover) and shortening it a couple of inches, or make it flush with the tailights. I think it actually wouldn't be that hard and wonder what it would look like, would the front and rear overhangs look unproportional? I think you might be able to get away with it. I'm going to have to start messing around with Photoshop again I guess. It's been a while - we'll see if I get around to it ......unless someone else wants to........

if he would have put the mustang tail lights on the back he would have confused the crap out of people, at car shows you would walk around the front and go "nice camaro" then walk to the back and go "hey wasnt this a camaro? looks like a mustang now") i dont like the new mustangs but it would be interesting to see this thing in person

As I was scrolling down now I realised that was what your pic was. It's squished on my screen (don't know if thats right or not) and I see now thats what you did. I think it would look better if it hung out maybe an inch/2 inches past the lights, to make it apear closer to stock. so the bumper would not be flush, there would be a lip there - it would also create a body line across the back and help break up the rear end. The horizontal line would make the tail look less tall and I think look better. It would still be thirdgen and not "they tryed to make it look like a C5"

I actually really like how its basically flush. I don't know about the rest of you but the first part that gets dirty on my car is the flat on the rear bumper & that little ridge is a PITA to wax properly.
I'm not sure if I've already said it but I really dont like the lights he's using. I would definately prefer the look on a firebird with 85-90 T/A 3pc grid lights, especially a bird with the new nose cone

Its not really my cup of tea, but it looks 100X better than I thought it would. I dig the trunk set up, and rear glass. The b-pillar looks funky now though. It needs something. Or it needs to be smaller.

Not a HUGE fan of the tail light choice, but Im saving final judgement for after it has paint. The guy's been working on the the car for like 9 years though, so Im not holding my breath for "finished" pictures.

What a job making all those parts and making things fit though! Major props to his skills.

But this is one car that this mod is a must for. I love this look on this car, in which I used to own one about a year ago with plans to do this, but my camaro brought me back.

i have to say that this guy has skills. great body work. its an interesting design, i kind of like it but its hard to see how it flows with the rest of the body. i need a full body shot. one thing i dnt like about the 3rd gen firebirds without ground effects is the front of the car... the nose seems to be angled upwards to me.

I better not see a Ford 9" in your car in the future then, better back that with a Strange Engineering 12 bolt. Haha. I am totally with you, but think I may get the Ford 9" in the future, we will see, of course this being after I blow the living hell out of my 10 bolt I want to build up first.

P.S. Still think doing it the way Stephen's is photoshopped would be the best looking, as this guy totally changed the rear look so its hard to tell what it'd look like.

Turned out way differently than I thought when he started it. I applaud his work, and it might turn out to look ok, but once he makes the front match the rear, I find it hard to believe it will still be readily identified as a camaro or even an fbody, which is the only real issue I have with it personally.

I think the best way to go about it is to cut up an old bumper and put in new support behind the bumper. Something flatter than what is currently there. Rearranging the bumper would take a lot of skill but you could build it back together using windshield adhesive and many layers of fiberglass mat for support on the inside. I think if you took your time and drew it all out on the old bumper it could be done easily.

I love this type of different body work. I will definitely be trying this after school gets out next month. I have two bumpers that I could tear into. If anyone else gets a good try on this they better post some results.

Cool man! I wish i had some PS skills and i would love to try, but im just buried with school! But im learning autocad,alias,solidoworks,sketchbook etc so i think its worth it!
