Looks like fun! Wish I could weld-
What kind of intake is sitting on the workbench. Bowtie? Wanna sell it?

hi, that intake is on a spare motor I just built....I do have a low rise dual quad and a couple of cross ram intakes for sale
Kirby has been busy with his 2 year old daughter and wife and I have a 3 year old son and have been working on my 69 Corvette...so his Trans Am took the back burner for awhile....

been awhile, Kirby just had his second kid....he has undercarriage all done in satin black, looks sick....the car was super clean to start with, looked new underneath...and rear is being set up now, should be back and then we will spray in tyrol blue...here is the other stuff in gold, both are throwbacks to early TA's

Re: 383, T 56, Chevelle 12 Bolt Swap into 91 Trans Am
Thanks for the update!!
I thought this was put to pasture!
Just a few days ago someone asked about doing the 12bolt, and I couldn't remember if it was here or another forum.
Hope all is well, and looking forward to more..

Undercarriage is all done in semi gloss black, looks sick, rear axle going Tyrol Blue with Gold accents..Kirby just ordered new KYB shocks as well, we always tried to detail cars years ago, but a lot easier as grown ups and when you don't have to drive the car everyday while working on it.

He has the Kieslier kit, but we will be welding a bracket on the Quick Time bellhousing in order to use the factory style slave cylinder. We have a stock T5 bellhousing that Kirby bought so that we can duplicate the bracket to ensure the same rod travel for the slave cylinder as it moves the fork. This will be the next project once rear is in and car is on ground....

All the other suspension parts were either new or blasted and hit with cheap prime then sprayed with rattle cans, the axle will be squirted in a gun, it is PPG single stage....would be silly to do base clear on the axle
We will shoot the axle very soon, pics will follow

gears are in...
had a cover just to throw on during paint, ran all bolts in, make sure threads are ready to go
the shop did a good install, but the axle was real dirty on the outside after coming back from shop, cleaned with wax and grease remover then some fresh prime

Some might say its gaudy, others will love it, Kirby chose these colors as a throw back to early Trans Am's. The car will get twin Tyrol blue stripes similar to a 69 Trans Am and will run Gold GTA Wheels.
Had some problems with the paint at first, was cold here (even with heat in shop) and they gave him the wrong stuff (just hardener not reducer - luckily I had some similar reducer). Did a final coat in spray bombs, came out pretty decent for sure. Should look especially nice against the pristine floors and undercarriage refinished in semi gloss black. This guy will be ripping up the roads soon...East bound and down, loaded up and truckin'

Kirby has a lot going on, his wife just had thier second kid, I have been busy on my Corvette and other projects....my dad is retired so he has free time and is picking up calipers today for Kirby.....the ones in the pictures, were in a box of calipers we had kicking around and are 79 TA, we also have 79 TA backing plates but wasn't worth changing our set up at this point

Re: 383, T 56, Chevelle 12 Bolt Swap into 91 Trans Am
Going gold...
New axles had a slight lip which prevented the rotor from sitting flush, quick work with the dremel made it work fine. It is odd I used this same brand axle before with the same rotors and they don't have the lip, may be a design change, but is all set up now. Also did up a set of spare brand new rotors.

After the clearancing, dropped on the rotor inside out to make sure they sat on flange correct, also measured both rotors and axles, made sure they are indeed down all the way.

Coming along..just need brake lines and e brake cables
Wheel bearing grease to coat it for break in and just keep it protected until in the car and filled up.
Light cast grey keeping rotor faces sealed up for now until driven

Keeping with the 70's TA throwback colors that Kirby wanted, this NOS cover was sitting around awhile but never ran, decent shape.

Re: 383, T 56, Chevelle 12 Bolt Swap into 91 Trans Am
All done, made custom brake hose brackets, center bracket allows the lines to move up and down, can bring it right down to the housing where the stock one would be, in these pictures it is sitting up some, we will adjust when in the car...it was made from an early Corvette alternator bracket, which unlike Impalas, Camaros of the era had a different sweep...he has adjustable height on the control arm brackets so wanted to do this with some adjustment too.

View from top
Sitting high here, but can drop it right down in a minute or two, plenty of line play and also adjustment in the bracket.
Pass side hose bracket

Another center view
Have to touch up a couple spots
View of center looking up from bottom, the stainless bolts attach it to the girdle arm mount, which was once a solid Moroso SBC motor mount

Kirby is ordering up an adjustable panhard rod so we can center it nice, also adjustable LCA's are on the way to allow for more treaking.

Re: 383, T 56, Chevelle 12 Bolt Swap into 91 Trans Am
Got a set of end link brackets from beths91camaro. This way we can do up a modified set and also have Kirby's stock ones. The brackets we got from Beth, were mint, which is what we needed as Kirby's car is ultra clean, we didn't want ones that were rusted or pitted.
Here they are in their early stages of making up, these will have a dual bolt pattern which will also be slotted to allow for a lot of adjustment. A lot of shaping, welding, fileting left to do. The black line shows likely how the back edge will be shaped.
