A cowl for a hard top or T, but for a vert as much as i dont like them an ss looks better than a cowl on a vert

I like the regular cowl hoods and iroc hoods. Those crazy hood scoops and 4" cowls look too canadian

The SS hood looks really good, but EVERYbody has it. That's why I went with the Big Block Stinger hood. Plus, I think it looks pretty awesome.

I would love that hood on a thirdgen if it didnt have such a curve on them front pieces. what I am thinking is kinda like a cowl but with part of the front cut out of it. it would be like a ss hood with sharper corners that would follow the lines of the car, instead of ignoring them.

out of the ones I have seen I would probably go with a vis carbon fiber 2" cowl and probably paint the top of the hood to match the body (assuming I dont like how it looks in person)

Re: Best aftermarket Camaro hood: Cowl vs. SS.....

i have a bigblock stingray hood and i might sell it if i can find a daytona hood for my car and i'm getting ready to take the hood to a body shop to get the scoop cut out and a screen put in so it looks better. so if anyone wants it let me know and i will go ahead and have them sand and primor the whole hood so it will be ready for paint. the hood is in good shape but there are some cracks in the hood from when i was going too fast and pasted a simi and the wind broke one of the front locks, it was very windy, but the cracks are small and i will get them fixed for you if you want and i got new locks so the front locks are new and if i get the work done to the hood i will be asking around $500, the hood is fiberglass lift off and has holes in the corners for hood pins, you can't see to well but look at my picture to see what i'm talking about

I seem to be the only one that likes the turbo iroc hood. This is the hood I'm putting on my Camaro whenever I get ahold of one. Loved it since I first saw one a few years ago. I've got one pretty similar on my 86 TA

Re: Best aftermarket Camaro hood: Cowl vs. SS.....

I just got my engine done in my own camaro and the damn hood won't close over it So now I to must pick a new aftermarket hood... 2" cowl or SS hood? Hmmm... Only aftermarket hood I have ever seen on a camaro around here is the WS6 ram air II hood, so that one is out.

It is a 1983 Z28 that has its original ground effects.

I have seen both in person and like them both. The cowl hood has such a aggressive look. I feel the SS hood is more of a 4th gen hood but looks good on 3rdgens. I would god cowl all the way unless its a vert.

i say cowl personally, because the ss hoods just don't look right on 3rd gens to me. don't get me wrong i like the ss too and have seen some nice cars with ss hoods, but IMHO the cowls fit the look of the body style of our cars better. i can't wait til i get one!

Hawk's sells them for about $450 or so last time I checked. I would say plenty of other companies sell them, hell, you could probably find them on eBay if you wanted to trust that. lol.

Is that hood functional? It doesnt look so. If anyone has a good website for fiberglass ss hoods please post. I have looked at a few and with shipping looks to be about $550. Just wondering if I can find a better deal.

No its not a functional hood but, its a hell of alot lighter than the stock hood I had and it bolts up to the original hinges. The hood weighs 38 pounds.

Re: Best aftermarket Camaro hood: Cowl vs. SS.....

it was about the price of the ss I think. I bought it 3 or 4 years ago but 550 sounds right and yes it does bolt right up. you may have to loosen up the hinges to make the bolt holes line up but yeah the hard part is getting the old hood off. Dont do it alone. I did and regret it. I cut my hand open pretty bad. It was a great feeling though when i picked up the new hood and installed it on my own with no problem.

I have a Daytona Twin Turbo on my 86 but have been thinking I want to switch to a SS or Big Block Stinger...so if someone wants to trade we can talk...might even add a little money...let's deal...I really prefer not to ship because I will catch hell trying to find a box...I am willing to drive to meet for a trade...

Re: Best aftermarket Camaro hood: Cowl vs. SS.....

Just wondering about the Jongbloed hood. Has anyone every tried to retrofit the IROC louvers into the hood, doesn't have to be functional louvers, but just flush mounted into the surface to give it aesthetics?
