The Dropped Spindles will handle our stock steering with the OEM Steering adaptor. If then you take off the steering adaptor one can use a Rack & Pinion Steering with the same dropped spindles...So again, use either system with this Dropped Spindle.
~Ed~
Do you have any pics of the adapter for the steering arm?
I didn't notice any earlier.
I was thinking the same thing about an hour ago. Figured I would wait another week before posting as cocacolakidd said 4 to 6 weeks for production to start and that was on the 29th of last month, so only about 3.5 weeks
dropped spindle group: i have less then 4 months till speed week at the salt flats. i can only wait till the first of may for a date on these dropped spindles. if there is nothing firm i will have to bow out! my plan b is coil overs. sorry about that. bud
my tax return said $214,543.00 gross for the year thats double last year and I just did $162,000.00 in March, so 2006 looks even better(understated, no).
Well if you have so much money, you spoiled brat, why dont you call AJE and tell them you have money now and to hurry it up!
spoiled brat ? I am a 36 year old man , that has done 95% of the finance on my own. My father gave me a start 5 years ago with $22,000. I now have $600,000 in equipment and I only have 1 employee. I have done everything myself, THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK. Thats the whole problem with this WHOLE board.
My father is dead, I've done well for myself despite that. -but guess what, nobody cares and that's not what this topic is about.
If you thought before you spoke(or wrote) you wouldn't have posted off topic again.(Take this to PMs or email.) Please do not post off topic.
John I am sorry you are upset about the spindles not being available right now. The fact is that some of us have been looking for years for any one who could supply us with a dropped spindle for the Third Gen Car. Now we have found a supplier/manufacturer who is willing to supply us the dropped spindles. Unfortunately with all new products there is the R & D (Research and development), with this is the wait time for production, and sales. With this said I am willing to wait - or if not I would have to go and get them at another place. ~Ed~
------------------------------
Some have asked what the steering adaptor is going to look like -
I'm sorry I have not contacted Anthony Jones about this before this time. It's been really busy here, and with his time zone being way off from mine it's a little difficult for me to contact him at times (My fault). I will do this though soon! Then the pics. will be posted of the adaptor - Sorry for the delay, Ed.
I have to agree with john8169. I haven't posted to this thread in a year and a half. I just spent the better part of a half hour reading through this crap. Delete out some of this crap!
Thank you cocacolakidd for your hard work.
You said in one of your posts:
"These struts are also lighter by 3.5 lbs over the stock/OEM strut, and made of better/stronger metal, and with the weld filler material/process the tensile strength goes way up also."
Did you mean spindles instead of struts?
Also, is it me or are these things ugly? I know, it's not the looks but seriously, these things are hideous.
I guess I'm still in(I'd like to see what they look like on a car with C5 brakes), I just hope the economy doesn't tank before these spindles are finished.
Finally Dropped Spindles are ready for ordering - Hurray!
The following is a quote from Anthony Jones at AJE Racing -
" Attached is a pic of the steering arm option for our strut assembly but is the same for the dropped spindle. We are ready to started taking orders! I need 30 confirmed with down payment of $120.00 Non Refundable (if we get 30 orders) to get started. If we don't get 30 orders in 30 days we will refund 100% if cash or check but will keep 6% on a credit card. Will start delivering in 6 weeks after 30 orders are confirmed. The group price will be $315 for the rack steering arm and $330 with the factory style option. Retail will be $449 and $479. If 50 are confirmed I will take $15 more off the price.
Anthony Jones." - End Quote -
So one and all this is the best news I have heard in two years of search -

OK This is great I will be calling tommorrow, and beg all whom are on the list to do so. This is a great deal, thanks to everyone who made it happen.... john
I dont get it, I thought you had money in hand? Why do you need to beg anyone for anything? you made a quarter of a mil last year.
My personal check is in the mail box...no matter what the outcome I'm in for a set - 10 orders, or 90, whatever - It's been a long search...thanks every one.

Pedal to the metal until you see the "Gates of Hell", then brake.
The last I heard they were $289.99 retail, and that was three years ago. Last set I saw on sale from Bell Tech (I just barely missed them) were $259.95. That was the last set to be sold, and at a big discount. Once Alvin Rocha (Engineering Production Manager) told me he was going to put them back into production, and sell them at the marked down price of $259.95, but then I never heard from him again... ~Ed~

is the rack one for use with their pinto rack? or will it work with any rack set up such as LS1 conversion racks from Hawks? or am i better off with the stock style spindles?
check back further in this thread - there are pictures of a mock-up dropped spindle posted...
Which picture? There are a bunch of pictures and links and speculation posted but I am, as are several others I'm sure, unclear as to which picture is the one to which you are referring.
Im sorry, I thought there was only two pictures of the dropped spindles posted. Any way here they are again - They were quite a ways back and somewhat hidden with the links, and all. (See here below)
There is one other picture posted here, but it is of the stock/OEM steering adaptor, of the steering adaptor we will use. The picture is of a different spindle with the stering adaptor on it. (I think on page 8 here)
My order is already mailed. ~Ed~

Im thinking it might be a good idea if we started a new post stating that the spindles are ready to be ordered. We have less than a month now if we want to get the group price of $330, otherwise they'll be $479 a set. When I called AJE today I was told that only 3 or 4 sets had been reserved, thats ALOT less then the amount of people who pledged to buy a set. I personally plan to but at least one set, but it sure would be nice if everyone would get together and help drive the price down. GET MOTIVATED DAMMIT!
I do not know if a new post would be the correct thing to do. All who are on the list have subscribed to the string, and receive up-dates as each of us post to the string. I may though by the weekend try to PM each person on the list to tell them what's going on here. Do not be surprised if you see a PM about it as it will be easier to just do the whole list.
Also, I'm sure there may be a few more deposits soon, as I for one mailed a personal check for my deposit. My check should be there tomorrow, or this week at any rate.
We will see what we can do to wake up all who are interested in the dropped spindle set..

Well now the Firebird's body rusted out where the rear subframe welded to the floor, and once that happened, I'm without an f-body. Of course I'm looking for a replacement "shell" to put my Firebird "into"! So about these spindles- what brakes are they set up for? Normal single piston (which I have)?
Or are these meant for some wild 4 piston Wildwood setup?

These Dropped Spindles are set up for the factory 1LE brakes, and have the smaller factory (GM) drilled/tapped holes. If one wishes these holes may be drilled, and tapped to the 12mm x 1.75 bolt size for the LS1, C5, or C6 brake packages (An easy do). Also with the steering adaptor the spindles uses factory style steering. Or leave off the adaptor, and use a rack and pinion style steering system.
I keep on forgetting that this thread has been going for a long time, and allot of this same information is in this thread, but sometimes a couple of pages back. Please read the entire thread before posting questions that have been answered in the past. There are many here that have subscribed to the thread, and do not pick up on new data postings because they see a new posting of old information, and are tired of looking at the same old information posted all of the time - My apologies, Ed.
These Dropped Spindles are ready to be ordered - See information posted above - Thanks all - Cocacolakidd.

Probably the best would be to contact Baer for that information. It maybe that Baer may know about the factory 1LE setup, and could answer the question.
