Originally posted by head hey tony @ least u found one. i've been repeatedly told they don't exist... re: rare parts try anything for mse t/a's
I have seen 4 of them in person... one was in a junk yard folded in half one was on the white TTOP 92Firehawk and the two that i had been told of ...only could buy one...... a big thanx goes to OKFOZ
How 'bout a spare set of 'glass side peices for a convertable? I found a good pair just in case. Had a factory glass hood for an 83 z. sold it though . I know where another is but it's wasted.

A complete Hatch Pull Down Assembly for any '92 built late in the model year (the one with the fiberglass mount).
On the PITA scale to find - 10. I wish I knew why the GM wizards decided to change this thing right at the end. (maybe it's a 4th Gen part also ??)
Took me almost 4 months to find one. (Thanks IROCZ Dave)

Actually the later hatch pulldown came out towards the end of the 91 model year. All 92's should have that mount. I've got one in my 6cyl car. I like it since it goes up and then pops, but it likes to jam so it goes up and then back down on its own. If I push down on the latch before it starts to go back down sometimes it pops. It worked fine up until the last 6 months or so.
Originally posted by Air_Adam They might not have been produced in low numbers (in total) but they are getting pretty damn hard to find now. Stuff like:

- Mechanical Clutch Linkage parts
But like I said... most of this stuff was never rare 10-15 years ago, but it certainly is now.

I think any LB9 5spd is pretty rare. Most 3rd gens I see are 4bbl, TBI, or 350. As a matter of fact, I dont see that many 5 speed period. When you figure how many 5spd Mustang 5.0's there are vs. thirdgens, its pretty sad.

i've seen 5 lb9/t-5 cars, mine a red 88 trans am, a red 91 z28 (1le), a white 89 trans am, and a black 90 formula, but i'm interested in finding out the specific number of lb9/t-5 irocs built in 88
silver/gray 'IROC-Z' rocker emblems
silver/gray 'IROC-Z' rear panel emblem
mint condition auto trans shifter plate ('85-'89)
I managed to refurb my two rocker emblems (which look like NOS emblems now ), and I practically stole a rear panel emblem for only $110. I told the seller that I was willing to pay several hundred dollars for one, but $110 was all he wanted. I finally managed to find a practically-NOS shifter plate on eBay for $75 after 4 months of searching.
sheet !!! i almost trew out my stock 91 z28 cd player because it quit working !! guess i better get it fixed !!!! hmmmm maybe I should look decode my vin. car has alot of silly options

Take it to your dealer and have them send it to Delco for refurbishing. I did that with my UX1 am/fm cassette w/5-band eq - a week and $290 later, I received a "brand-new" unit. The face plate was new, the display was new, the buttons/switches were new, and the innards had been checked/repaired/replaced as necessary.
rare, how about a mecham wing. i got one , it took two years to find one . Also about the aluminum hoods , i want to see some pics of that . Also its really tough to find mecham parts . Pictures are also very hard to come by.

i have 1. its black and i havent ever seen another 88 thirdgen lb9/t-5/bw 9-bolt and beleive me i look every time.
I will have to go look & see. But it may be a couple weeks til I can because I am starting a new Parttime on call job & have to go through two weeks of paperwork just to get hired.
there's a 92 bird at the boneyard with the passenger cup holder..I wanted both so I just left it there...Could I get much for it if I tried to sell it alone?
Can't remember when I 've seen even one, wheel and center cap for the 82 Transam, turbine wheel with the black large cap over the fins. A set of those would have to be rare, maybe not that popluar but rare still.
The rear panel '5.7 TUNED PORT INJECTION' emblem can still be had from the dealer...unless you're talking about the '5.7 TUNED PORT INJECTION' decals that go under the rocker badges
I've been reading this whole thread, and haven't seen mentioned yet, anything about the rear wiper option, or the ugly-*** louvers, made to fit over them

Quite frankly, I would give my cojones for a set of factory louvers; my '89 was optioned with them, and I have a feeling that they're going to be about as easy to find as the silver/gray IROC-Z rocker badges.
I was referring to the louvers made to fit over the rear wiper arm, with the raised center section. Very hump-backed looking in my opinion. Not a good look.

oh *** theres a guy around here with a set, i want to go tear them off and beat him to death with them
what about this radio, my 85 had this along with uq7 , the 6 speaker package. I wish the thing worked perfectly but it doesnt. I almost wish i could have this instead of mine.

I tried to post a pic of the hood but it was to big and i can't resize
it looks just like a 82-84 T/A and 87-92 formula hood
This emblem was used only on 1982 birds.
It's the same type that was used to plug the window crank hole on 2nd gens that came with the power window option.
But the bird used in 82' is not the same style, silver bird on black. This is what I have on my 82 s/e, I have seen the same ones on another 82 s/e as well as an 82 TransAm, but I also know of an 82 TA with power windows and no hole punched in the door panel thus no plug.
I believe sometime during the 82 production run they stopped punching the panels for any bird that was getting the pw option so they could save a few bucks on emblems.
They are gone from 83 up in the P & I book.
okso i just got this awsome magazine/catalog from classic industriees. its got everything. no joke. i couldnt find rims for a ss on an 02 but seriously everything else. its over 850 pages. www.classicindustries.com belive me the 5 bones is sooo worth it.

3rd gen toys? Everything else, huh? Hm. I might have to make a short-term investment here
But they can be a bit pricey and some of the original GM parts are subject to them still being in stock at GM and the prices for those parts go up over time as there are fewer left.
For example I just made an order for some switches and the door armrests and the price was a fair bit higher than in the catalogue...
How about those fog/driving lights on the '91-92 T/A

I second the motion for "ANY 15th Anniversary TA" specific parts being hard to find. There were only 1500 of these made and I have so far had to "make" the past three things I needed out of regular TA stuff...
