My B4C was an Indiana State Trooper car and is that funky blue. It is original except the exhaust system (headers, 3" stainlesss, and no cats) 75K on it and still has the toggle switchs for the lights and siren, and the siren is still in the passenger fender well! Do need a set of 113 heads.
I just joined and noticed that there is a request for b4c VIN #. I have a 1991 b4c that has never seen police duty the vin# 1G1FP2386ML100412. Does the last 3 numbers represent what number this one is. Thanks 1 of 592
I am not an expert, but did work for GM for 23 years in various jobs so I do know a few things. The B4C cars were not made in one build but were spread out across the year. The person putting together the B4C registry will become the expert on the cars if he can get at least 50 responses. Statistically he will be able to take the VIN's and see how they are spread across the year and deterime what is an early car and what is a late car. As he gets additional cars the data will become more accurate.

350 auto
probably the only 92 b4c in Australia
I also doubt many of the 589 have a supercharger hanging off the side
Great car to drive and very fast
Just read a bit a few pages back about you knowing that there was one exported down under....interesting, I hope I have the only one. Yes it has been converted to right hand drive. It also has most of the options - air, cruise, electric hatch, power windows. It has a stock bottom end but has the vortech blower, 5 inch intercooler, holley throttle body, edelbrock manifold, microtec computer. It has 230 kw at the wheels and I cant wait to get on the strip...im hoping for a low 12. It will wheel spin at 75 mph if you stand on the gas and thats on a dry road. In the wet it will wheel spin at any speed....very scarey

Reason: wanted to say more
I went to look at a 92 rs as a parts car this morning and guess what I came home with? 1g1fp2389nl113303. The guy I got it from said it was a mass. state patrol car which is probably correct looking at all the crap that has been left in the car.
Very nice looking 92 B4C on ebay. Only 9000 miles. VIN 1G1FP238XNL149291. Private owned in Cincinnati. Current bid is $11000. 3 days left, reserve not met.
Here are two more Canadian RCMP 1992 B4C Camaro RS VIN#s:
1G1FP23F4NL144490 - from Alberta
1G1FP22F9NL135767 - from British Columbia
Both are seemingly identical - Blue on grey, 5-speed cars. Apparently, the BC car was recently bought back by the RCMP Historical Collections Unit, they beat me to it!
As they say "The Mounties always get their man"...or car in this case, Lol!
Strangely, they already have one in their historical museum, not sure why they need two. Perhaps one for parades and car shows?

If the car is an auto it should have a L98 5.7 L and they had 4 bolt mains. From a value standpoint if you have the original engine and trans rebuild it to OEM, if not have some fun. I am rebuilding mine right now. Was able to save the original bore, polish the crank and reuse the rods, etc. I have a second set of iron heads so I am going to pocket port them and put on roller rockers, already have headers. I hope to get about 75 hp more, just enough to notice it. Good luck with your car.

Joe the only L98's I have seen that came with 4 bolts were from the vettes. I have had the engines out of my 91 AND my 92 neither are 4 bolt.
You know, you are right. I forgot because I was considering converting it to a 4 bolt, but I don't plan on trying to get big hp so I did not do it and just remember wrong! I did notice from your picture that your 91 has the smaller, or individual, intake runner from the Thottle body. Thanks for keeping things straight
Look what i found ! This is a rare car if it is true!sale-f7ty6-1524997467@craigslist.org Im not sure how you post Crieglist add but this is in Houston.
I use to do this work when I was with GM, not with Police cars but other products. GM does not "give" cars and then "take them back". If if was a truly GM owned vehicle and modified for police use they would never have sold it to the public. Look at all the cars they are selling through Barrett Jackson. If any were modified from stock they get salvage titles or not for use on street and no VIN tag. If it is a B4C car and was never used as a police vehicle then maybe it was a demo car for the upfit company then sold out of their inventory. Do a car fax check to see how many times it has been titled. It sure has a lot of miles for a show car.
Talk to the guy he was real nice, He said that the car was bought by an upfit comp. and then sold, But was featured in some good magazines he has not owed it long or driven it much, he said that he had some realy nice old camaro's.. so.. i guess the older camaros are his thing.

"This car was given Signal Inc. by GM to be outfited with lights/sirens/radio/radar, etc..... Then given back to GM as a test car for promoting a police pursuit vehicle to police departments. This car was never put into police service."
From what I gather, the car was not "given" but was sent to that company to have the Police equipment installed for GM to promote the car. Could've been this car from the 1991 B4C brochure and hence the reason for the repaint...and yes, in the whole picture the car is doing a smoky burnout! Strangely, that's what GM decided to put on the brochure, LOL!
I can scan mine later and post the entire pic for you all...
I just went and test drove a B4C, 1LE. 1992, white, gray interior and 5 spd. Vin number is 1G1FP23F1NL158895. The car is in Westpoint UT. If everything goes well than I will be purchasing it for $2300 tomorrow morning.
Here's the SPID off my 1992 B4C/1LE 5.7
It was originally an Indiana State Police unmarked interceptor that was never badged with police markings, exterior lightbar or antennas. I haven't gotten into the restoration yet but it is 99.9% factory original with only the exhaust and the usual wear & tear items replaced.
I would like to know how many other were teal; do you have those numbers?
it's auto and l98 but the kid I bought it from didn't know jack about what he had (talked him down to 1300 for it with almost perfect sheet metal.) Ex Idaho State Police car with 230K on the odometer but engine has been rebuilt. I found out today that it was delivered to the ISP on jan 1, 1991 so it definitely isn't a 1le but I would assume it was one of the first B4Cs like this made.

just a quick question i have a 92 b4c, on the rpo it says 1le it has the 1-7/16 swaybar 145 speedomoter posi. the only thing i'm wondering is mine does not have a aluminum drive line. did some not come with it or did someone take it before i ended up with the car.

I had a 92 L98 B4C and it did not come with an aluminum driveshaft either, so your car is probably correct.

Mine didn't either, it is also a 1992 B4C. All 92 B4C's are 1LE but without a aluminum driveshaft.
