Body By Fisher?

The sill kick plates on my car (made of grey plastic) have a logo of a carriage emossed on them with the words "Body By Fisher".

I did some research and that line is related to the Fisher bodywork company that strated up in 1908 and was taken over by GM. They continued making bodywork for Cadillacs and ended up becoming an engineering company for them.
But they closed their doors forever in 1984.

So how come my car ( 1988 IROC) says "Body By Fisher" on it?

Just curious...

Probably because it wasn't worth retooling to get rid of the logo.

Fisher Body was a part of GM and Since it was their tooling I can only imagine that they kept the name. There is more than one "Fisher" THere was a "Fisher Guide" later called "Guide Lamp" in Anderson, IN. there was a Fisher Body in VA (I think), a FisherBody here in Flint, and I imagine other places. So they actually may still be around, in one shape or form.
