My first 3rd gen is my current 87 Sport Coupe

My parent's bought it in 89 when I was in grade 7... they gave it to me in 98 for my 21st birthday. I can never get rid of it now, everything I know about cars I learned on my Camaro

My first was a new black and silver 1982 Z28 from Blossom Chevrolet(Indy) back in 1982. I sold it in 1983 and later learned it was totalled a few months after I sold it. So it's been dead, buried, crushed, incinerated, etc., for over two decades now.

That had to have been an amazing junkyard find in 1983!

That car made a whole new experience out of going to a drive-in movie! And my girlfriend at the time looked like Sally Field("Smokey and the Bandit"), so you can imagine the comments, lol.

Leon, man, that 1979 T/A is FANTASTIC! A beautiful car....

My first F-Body was a 1981 WS6 Turbo Trans Am.... bought in January 1984 and drove until the summer of 1988. An underhood engine fire took it.... RIP.

I still miss it to this day.... terribly.

My first was an 88 Camaro Sport Coupe in 04/01. 235k on it. Had a million problems. Bought it for $1800, sunk about $2k into it replacing everything and it ran perfect for a week. Then the engine blew.

Next was my 94 Z28. Had 90k on it when I bought it for $7k. Was the love of my life from 11/01 to 7/05 when it was wrecked by a moron in an Avalanche. Had 140k on it and still would cut a low 13 with exhaust and intake.

Now I have my Iroc. picked it up in August with 106k on it for $3k. Love the car, just needs to be faster than it is. Maybe my LT1/T56 combo out of the 94 might make it into there.

I still own my first ever Firebird:

2.5L Iron Duke 5 speed.

I've also owned a 1991 Firebird T-top. 3.1L V6 Auto. I miss this one!!

I sold it and bought my next firebird....

1981 Trans Am 301 V8 auto.

I sold it to buy an engagement ring and got married!

I also owned a 1984 S/E. 2.8L H.O. 5 speed. BEATER!

I sold it and bought computer equipment to start my own graphics business.

I'd love to get a GTA or something someday....

My first was an '85 Z28 LG4 Auto. What a beater. I paid $300 for it with a blown tranny and 160k on the clock. $500 dollars later for a rebuilt tranny and it was back on the road. I drove it for less than a year, sold it for $800 bucks, and my friend bought it and still drives it today! It's currently at 208k and running fine.

After that I sold my 77 Seville (with 90k original miles!) and bought my '94 T/A. She was the 25th Anniversary Edition. Damn that thing was gorgeous. I paid $5000 cash for her. She had 146k on the clock and didn't look or run a day older than 46k. I washed it three times a week until I sold it (damn white rims) and even took it to the track a few times. It ran a 13.9@100 with a 2.2 60foot with only a catback on the stock 3.23s. That car also had EVERY option. Including auto

I recently sold her for $5200 dollars with 171k on the clock to buy another thirdgen.

I paid too much for an '83 that I thought was going to be an easy fix. Wrong. Returned to original owner for all my cash back.

Now I'm probably going to buy a '97 Z28 6-speed with 53k miles today. Wish me luck!

1989 RS 2.8/auto with ttops. i bought it from my dad when i turned 16 for $3k. yeah, that's right, i payed for my own car! had 69K on the clock when i got it and it had a 2400stall converter that my father and i installed just before i bought it. i loved that car. it went on to have two 2.8's, three v6 700r4's, a 350, and a hot 305. then i wrecked it in dec. 2003. from there i went to a 1987 sportcoupe, which i still have and is being turned into a stripped down racecar, and then my 1990 ralleysportcoupe, which has a solid lifter cammed 360ci sbc with aluminum 113 heads.

First Camaro: 1987 2.8L MPFI. It was two-tone silver and black. The driver side quarter was completely smashed. I replaced the quarter, painted her black, drove her for about a year, and then gave her to my girlfriend for her birthday. My Girlfriend is now putting in a bigger engine and completely restoring it from the frame up.
First Firebird: 1991 3.1L MPFI. Straight black with the aero ground effects kit. Still have her today. I'm putting a 350 in her and swaping the front nose for an '82 front end. The only down side to her is that she doesn't have t-tops.

1st Camaro was a 69 RS/SS 396 car that I bought for $600 during the 1st gas crisis way back in 1973. Blew the engine in 74 and boned it (it was just another used car back then). I bought a sucession of 67's (mostly RS's with deluxe interior) through the 70's, 80's and into the 90's. Kept the best of the bunch, a loaded 67 RS/SS 396 car (ever see one with power windows? This one has 'em). Bought an 02 Z28 in April of 05 as a bookend/toy to the 67 (traded in a low mileage clean 96 Z28 vert). Bought an 89 RS (305TBI w/700R4) as a daily driver in july of 05.

A 1989 Camaro RS that i bought from a kid in town for $600 bucks. He claimed the engine was going to blow. The car was in awesome condition for 600 bucks, nothing major, still running today after 6 years, and can still lay posi's on the highway no problem! He wishes he would have never sold it.

My F-bodies and others

I bought a 79-Z-28, brown with baby crap interior. Could not go wrong for 1500.00. I put my 300hp 350 in it out of my 70 Elcamino. It had a 350 Turbo trans, 3.42 gears with posi. Sold it for 2500.oo 2 years later.

I bought my brother's 87 GTA, No T-tops, L-98, black, graphite guts, SLP 3.70 gears and she ran 13.70's off the bottle. On the squeeze it ran 12.55 with slicks. Somebody wanted it more than me and stole her.

Then I bought an 88 305 T/A with 48,000 miles, white, automatic, 2.73 gears with posi, WS-7. That car was a turd. It was a nice car but for some reason the mass airflow sensors kept going out. Got tired of buying them and all of the other sensors I went through. I should have known something was wrong with it since he had a ton of reciepts from the dealer.

I parted out an 84 H.O. Z-28 with a 5-speed. I have the console lid still with the sticker on the inside.

My current one is an 83 T/A, 5-Speed, 3.73 posi rear, Medium blue metallic, blue interior is spotless, black accents and decals, LG4, WS-6, functional cold air induction, the N-24 Turbine wheels, with about 65000 miles. The good thing about it, it don't have any power options like power windows, door locks. It is a great car to drive and gets plenty of looks. When I first got it I did not want to keep the stock nose but now I glad I did. You never see any stockers any more. It has ran a best of 16.05 in the 1/4.

Other cars I've owned.

69 Chevelle SS 396 Frost green, 396 350hp, 400 turbo, 3.36 posi. Sold
70 El Camino Light green, 350 300hp, 350 turbo, 2.56 12-bolt posi. Sold
76 Chevette with a 4-speed. Could sqeak rubber going into 3rd gear. Sold
70 Monte Carlo 350 2-barrel sold it to buy a house in 1994. 39,000 miles.
70 Malibu rust bucket with a stock 74 350 4 barrel out of an Impala, fun car could run 14.95 with a 2.56 gear with only headers and header hookup cherry bombs. Frame was so rusty it broke over the rear axle.
77 Buick Regal with a transplanted 406 14.60 in the 1/4 with a 2.41 gear. I ran through in 2nd gear. Sold
94 Z-24 I ordered in 93. Black 5-speed and aircondition was the only option it had. Ran 15.80 in the 1/4 all stock. Got tired of car payments and sold it.
69 Malibu with my 406 12.60's. I put my 454 in it for a while and hit 12.20's Sold it in 2004.
69 Chevelle SS, Texas car with no rust, will be painted the original butternut yellow with black buckets, 454, 400 turbo, 3.36 12-bolt posi. That is my project now that I have had since 1995 and never drove it. Hopefully by this fall or next spring it will be drivable once again.

In the mean time I will enjoy my F-BODY. It can outhandle the Chevelle, out brake it, more mpg, and a good stereo to jam on because the Chevelle is a factory radio delete.

I had an 87 V6 Camaro I inherited from my father, my first purchase was a 1982 Recaro w/ Cease-fire, sorry, Cross-fire injection. That engine locked up @ 100,000 miles. I should have kept it, but I was young and rebuilding was not an option.

Now 15 other cars later, I'm back to third gens w/ the 91 firebird L98.

My first F-Body was a 1982 Z28, black with lt brown int. Bought it in '88 out of the junkyard. The car had been stolen and the insurancce company totaled it because the joyriders burned out the tranny, and destroyed the motor, and cracked up a fender. I fixed it up, drove it for a year and sold it to a friend.

86 firebird, 2.8. Air and rear defroster were the only options.

I pounded that car daily, redlining it every time I shifted, and the car still ran beautifully when I sold it at 150k miles. By that time, the body had gone south, and I had already bought my IROC, which is visible in that pic.

80 Camaro sport coupe. 135k miles. Orange with black vinyl. Had some Cragar rims on it, LG4/ TH350. It was a pretty base car. Bought it in March of 1990 for $1100. Totalled it 6 months later.

Then I bought a 80 Camaro Berlinetta. That things was loaded! Gold with saddle interior. 84K miles. LG4/ TH350. Paid $2400 for it in October of 1990.

Traded that in on my '92 RS in November of 1991. Got $4500 for it. My 92 was brand new. L03/ 700R4. Teal, grey int, 16" rims, ttops, power everything. Paid about $13000 for it. Sold it in '98 for $6000.

1969 Camaro SS Pace car - If I had that car I would not have time to drive my third gens. What a fun car it was. I never had a problem getting girls in college because of this car. The car was stolen and stripped to the bone in 1979. It is worth $40,000 today.

Car: 1989 Iroc
Engine: 5.7L 350 TPI
Transmission: 700R4
my first was a 1985 Z28, 305, 4bbl, 700r4, red w/gold gfx blew tranny #1 after 6 months
traded a pos Z24 for another tranny, got the tranny and the rest of the car with it (1984 camaro), pulled the tranny, blew tranny #2, got an 1984 berlinetta for parts, tranny was bad in that one, left the car sit for 1 1/2 years b4 parents made me get rid of it "either sell it or it goes to the scrapyard", sold it for 975 bucks, i only paid 700 for it.

had a 1991 firebird for a little bit, 2.8l blown motor, parted it out

then last month I bought my current camaro
1989 Iroc
5.7l TPI
Auto
Posi rear
305 hp
T-Tops
Dark flame red (original crappy paint)

I plan on rebuilding all the suspension over this up coming winter, along with a new tranny (current on is a little sluggish) and possibly a new paintjob??

my first F-body was a 71 Camaro.I had alot of fun with that car.it had a meager little 307 but it was alot of fun having a cool looking Camaro.my 2nd F-Body was the 84 Trans Am (the one I have to this day) that I bought a month after my wife and I got married back in 97.that car was 100% stock then but now it is almost a pro-street as you can see in my sig. only the rear bumper cover, and pass door are original parts still on the car, everything else including the entire electrical system are all from other cars that I have parted out over the years.

My first f-body was a '68 Firebird. Nice car, had a 350BB/auto with hood tach/ ram air hood, ect. I went to an 82 T/A, then an 89 GTA, then a 2000 T/A and back to an 89 GTA. Currently with no f-body but a TTA will be next once the finances are in order.

My first F-Bod was a '80 T/A. It actually looked just like the white one on the 1st page of this thread, white and blue. Great looking car. It had the t-tops too.

Of course mine was nowhere as nice as that one. It had the 301, and I paid 100 bucks for it. It actually ran, but it needed pretty much everything, including the floors. I bought it when I was a junior in high school, and tinkered with it over the summer. I realized what a money pit it would become, so I sold it for 400 bucks.

A year and a half later I got the GTA, and man I loved that car. I wish I still had it. I sold it to my brother who wrecked it after a year, and in the driveway it's sat for 4 years now.

I got a 98 Formy back in '00, that was a great car too. I really regret getting rid of it. As much as I liked that car though, I think the GTA was more fun to drive, even though it was much slower. I'm actually thinking of getting another L98 car this spring.

Still have it...got it at the age of 15 for 7500 bucks, beat the **** out of it for a good 3 months when I was 17.. Then I decided to put this ***** sideways into a brickwall @ 60mph, kinda forgot they dont respond the way rwd cars do and lost about 10 grand... I plan to bring the Iroc back out this summer, she has 37k miles.

Car: 88 firebird
Engine: 355
Transmission: t-5
Axle/Gears: 9 bolt 3.91
I had a nice 88 iroc vert, that I got ripped off on, then I totalled it about 6 months after I bought it. Supposably it had a 383 in it with a fresh rebuild. I was drunk and getting sideways, needless to say I haven't drove drunk since then.
The cop that I bought it from said it had a stroker in it, but when I recently rebuilt it, I found a stock 305 crank in, it and the rings and valve seals were shot. In the ad it also said Dart Iron eagle heads, but it had sportsman II's, I wish I knew 2 years ago what I do now about these cars now. I paid $4500 dollars for it, someone might remember seeing it on eBay, it looked orange in the pics, it had a t-5.
Now a member on the forum has it.

First was a 1967 firebird with a 400cid/ manual; second was a 1969 firebird with a 400cid/ auto (but with tri-power set up I installed) wish I had kept this one. Third was a 1981 formula with t-tops, put a 400cid/auto in that one.
Current one is a 1988 Trans Am (LO3/auto) with t-tops. After the motorocyle is done then, the bird gets my full attention.

Car: too many ...
My first thirdgen was a maroon 89 RS w/ t-tops and L03/700R4 base model everything. I thought it was awesome with the flowmasters (haha!) but I was too young to know what I was doing. I had that car during the last 2 years of high school but it sat when I got into trucking. Few years after high school I brought it out of the garage and took it to the track to try drifting, here's one of the few pictures I have of that car before it died a horrible death. This was taken in 2002 I think, not sure. That car sucked but the avatar burnout rules!! Hahahah!

Mine was an 81 Camaro with a 305 in it. I bought it when I was 16 as my first car, and stupidly, traded it for an old Ford van a few years later.

My first and only F body is the 1983 T/A I special ordered from my home town dealer in May of '83. I still have it in the garage. It has 62 thousand miles on it and is fairly factory original. I fooled with the motor (which is original, but modified) and have considered putting it back to stock.
I'm glad to have found this board, it kind of rekindled the Trans Am spirit out there in the shop.

My first was an 1985 Iroc L69 5spd.The L69 was replaced by a small block 400 .030 over, headers, no cat and 2.5 " duals all the way to the bumper.

She had a mild cam, ported heads, 327 vette intake and a carter carb. Broke 2 rear ends. Sold it after the 2nd rear end.
