Re: whats your mileage on your fbody?
It then got a 5.7 my dad built, which lasted two months (don't know why and neither does he cause he never got the oppurtunity to take it apart.
After that (90's) it got a jasper reman 350 which I disected a month ago and found out it was a jasper reman block meant for a caprice. It had the wrong heads and cam and no compression on 3 cylinders and burnt 2 quarts of oil every 200 miles.
She was a TPI, now she is an LS1/4L60E. And the way i look at it, the 5.3 in there now is closer to a 5.0 in displacement than a 5.7. (just not in HP/Torque - haha)
The way she was with the powertrain, it almost caused my dad to junk it. So I am happy I got rid of those antiquated pieces and installed something that hopefully will allow me to keep the car alive for quite some time.
Like many cars on here- I brought her back from the dead with all the body and paint and then powertrain. Everything I sourced out - like the body and paint - I got screwed on.

55K original miles on the odometer of my 86 IROC, motor has about 15K miles since install. I call her original looking, or an 86 IROC 350 TPI clone lol. She's better than original now!

Re: whats your mileage on your fbody?
389,400 miles after 25 years as my daily driver this week on original drive line with no rebuilds The car still runs well and just completed one last 700+ mile trip to Hawks Third Gen with the 305 TBI. I'm sure the L03 engine & drive line will go 400,000 miles. Decided to keep this L03 as a backup. It holds better oil pressure than the 114, xxx mile one in the other Camaro.
Decided it was time for the LS1 swap, new paint & taking care of the interior issues. One of my friends kindly pointed out the LS1 swap has been "in the works" for 13 years...time to make it happen.
Hawks Third Gen will do the restoration & modification

Re: whats your mileage on your fbody?
1988 Trans Am 305 5-speed WS6. 100% Stock and original paint.
Ordered it new from the factory/dealer. Had 2 miles on it when it came in in early April 1988. It had 12,000 miles on it by the fall when I put it into storage for the winter. Have only driven it about 36,000 miles since then for a total of about 48,000.
I didn't buy it with the intention to hang on to it this long, but I'm happy it's turned out that way. There were a number of years where it never came out of storage. Kids will do that, but now my youngest son who is 18 has become very proficient at driving a stick and he enjoys driving it. He took it to homecoming a few years ago which was a thrill for him. I was a bit nervous however.

Re: whats your mileage on your fbody?
living the dream man. If my wife and I move south, which is a possibility, she asked me what I would do with my car.. if I would move it.. I stayed silent. sigh. I know the moment I mentioned trailering it she would go over how much this things costs and its not a good investment (how I sold it to her) and its more trouble than worth and how we are downsizing and should not have to drag it along.. etc... sigh.

Re: whats your mileage on your fbody?
Here is a note: If you do the math, 40' wide, 12' high walls (Clearance for the lift) and with a 6/12 pitch roof, the math works out to be exactly 22' (That is how I got my ok from the township) But I forgot to figure (unintentionally) that the trusses use a 2x4, which adds your (approximately) 4" to height. IT was all unintentional, but it worked out, and no one really cares...

No,I wish I still had it. Sold it in 88 and bought the 88 GTA. That was a sweet car. It had 51k miles on it. I wanted the GTA 5.7, you know....all the rage of the 80's....IROC'S and GTA's!
sigh....we all learn I guess.

Guys, and some gals, need toys and "things" to fix, it's in our DNA, cost effective or not.

When my wife starts to fuss about me "wasting" $ on my car I remind her I don't have a $500 a month car note. My old junk was all paid for in cash. LOL. I also remind her I don't spend it in bars or chasing women.

1988 GTA - 305 TPI / Automatic currently has 376,000 miles on the original engine. Electrical issues are keeping what was my daily driver from adding many more.
1988 GTA - 350 TPI / Automatic currently has 38,000 miles - rarely used.
1989 TTA - 3.8 turbo / Automatic currently has 68,000 miles - rarely used.

88 Iroc Z Convertible 145k on the car and rebuilt the TPI engine and trans ten years ago at 69k. Daily Driver even during winter, still no leaks from the engine or trans. I am a maintenance horse and have replaced seals, brakes, sensors, hoses etc... on a regular schedule. Originally an Arizona car (now Colorado car) and I am the third owner. Iroc is very reliable and gets decent MPG on the highway.

86 Iroc with 152,000. About 20,000 on the ZZ3 which is currently getting rebuilt due to the stupidity of previous owners, so it will have a 0 mile engine once again in a few weeks.
