I don't know for fact, but I've been told that the cars brought in for the C4C program have a type of acid or a type silicone pored into the engine block, causing the block to turn into one big piece of unusable metal, other then for scrap

The oil is drained out, some type of "liquid glass" is poured in, and the engine is run until it seizes. It's part of the C4C law that the engine must be permanently destroyed. I watched them do this to a few cars on the news the other night.

Rant >> Hybrid/Electric cars = Less oil/gas usage. Ok, how do we produce electricity? Splitting Atoms (possible nuclear fallout), Building Damns, Burning coal.... No, none of things have an effect on the Enviorment at all. Buy Hybrids and be politically correct when you screw up the enviorment. >> 91 Bird/82 Regal going NO Where >> Dead or Alive!
I know its a corvette, but I agree with KITT1983 lynch them. This is what you get when the mob masses just watch tv and see a "good deal" not really paying attention to what is behind the reason. It wouldn't be so bad if there was a rule stating that only you can receive domestic cars not imports, because isn't this for boosting America's economy? With that said maybe the dealerships should have a conscience and only give the deal on the actual fuel economic cars and not giving you a deal on say the product that doesn't move very well like the "gas guzzling giants" like surburban, the 2500 pickup, or cummis diesel pickups, etc. Just kind of bugs what's going on. Just one last thing are these cars that dealers are destroying going to the junkyard or the scrapyard. Wouldn't make more sense to give them to a junkyard? Wouldn't that boost economy as well? I understand that the government wants them off the road doesn't mean the rest of us who actually take care of our cars have to miss this chance to get some really rare pieces LOL.

I would have to say that it is a very sad form of advertisement. I couldn't tell if the car was already junked and the dealership bought it just to advertise the C4C. The "salesman" said that it was in fact a trade in. The nose of the car is bashed but it could be from the fact that it was dropped into a dumpster....... You can see the marks on the quarter panels where the straps were to pick it up.
As I understand the C4C program, the car can't be worth more than the $3500 to $4500 rebate. To get the $4500, there has to be a 5 mpg difference form the trade in to the new car.....
Kevin
To get $3500 your new car has to get 5-7mpg better than the old one and to qualify for $4500 your new car has to get 7-9mpg better.
This whole thing is dumb. iv already seen cars and trucks that i would buy for more then that $4,500 so i dont understand the whole thing already. iv seen some siting at lots that blue book out for 7k is american that stuiped? i had to look up what they do to the cars after been cashed in http://www.postbulletin.com/newsmana...p?z=2&a=411848
At least most will make it to slavage yards but good luck with engine cores kinda lame but at least parts wont go to waste. i still find the f-body in the dumpster a bit insulting doesnt look like theres anything wrong with it. they could of put some rusted out POS in there but i spouse laying it in the dumpseter nose done was a good idea now everone can kiss that f-bodys *** after selling there soul and driveing off that lot with ther new POS kia. ever time i see hybrid looking cars i think of that smog alert south park episode
I wish I could find a running 'vette for 4500! There's no way that car would have sold for less than 6k around here!
you may want to sit down for this but a gentleman just traded in a 1989 vette 5.7 TPI mint body, raggy interiour for a C4C. the car is easily worth 4500 on the street. but who knows if it runs since it came with no t tops and it rained heavily for 2 days as it sat in our back parking lot.... digital dash and everything.. most likely ruined now.... worth 500 to the hardworking person wants to replace the whole interiour???
I've also heard that the c4c traded car must be crushed too, is that true?
Only the engine has to be totally destroyed/disabled. The rest of the car is free game to be recycled, but lots of places are taking it to the extreme & crushing the whole car.
Why don't they realize they could get a few hundred bucks more, by selling the shell to a junkyard? Scrap metal cost gets them almost nothing.
thats still photoshopped... so many flaws.. look close.
I've seen this photochop posted on other websites.

No doubt. Back before I got my Z28 I was pricing C4 Corvettes. The only ones I could find for less than $10,000 had an ungodly amount of miles on them or had tons of work that needed to be done to them.
Man, this crap be pissin' me off. . . People, stop posting stuff like this plz. . .
If I lived near that place, I'd just hop in that dumpster and start yanking parts. Blatantly, in broad daylight. . .right in front of their faces. What do they care, its garbage to them. . .ITS IN A FREAKIN' DUMPSTER.
I'm keeping my American built car alive!!!!
Take that you corrupt, idiotic, enviromentalist posing, throw-more-money-that-we-don't-have-at-it brainwashing s.o.b's. that thought this rubbish idea up.
End rant.

What is photoshopped about it? I took every picture that I have posted on this thread. I even went back at 2AM to take more pics of the very same dumpster with the very same car from evey angle when others said that it was photshopped....
I knew that I should have taken a video........
I find it hard to imagine trading in a vette or f-body on anything other than another vette or f-body.
Once again, mileage has absolutely no bearing AT ALL on emissions. Get it through your head. Comparing a 5000lb vehicle to your 3500lb. vehicle is ridiculous and you look silly, again.
Also feel free to show me how this program is going to be responsible for more repo's because you keep on spouting it off and I fail to see the correlation. Dont talk out of your ***, I want facts.
Lets not forget that that camaro would have never received a $4500 trade in value... It's a great deal for the person that C4C’d it.
I just saw your, as usual, useless ranting.....
You REALLY think, that a 5 mile car can get as bad emissions as a 200,0000 mile engine? Absolutely not! High miles = wear & require extra steps to run clean, pure & simple.
Repos...Easy. People jump on getting a new car, but fail to think about the higher insurance costs over their older car. Monthly payments they may not even have had before.....There you go....Facts up your a$$....
There WILL be repos because of that, no question about it.
People so abusing the C$C, trading in cars that are anything but clunkers. Yes, the Maserati had engine issues, but it certainly wasn't a "clunker". Ads on TV sow downright JUNK. Mismatched color body parts, wrecked car limping in.....Everybody is turning in perfectly good running vehicles.
With out government so in debt already, do the dealerships really think they'll get their $ for these cars ($3500-$4500), anytime soon? Our government is just digging themselves deeper & deeper into debt. Loved the Stimulus Tax thing, but this just adds onto more $, that they are giving away, while being in debt! I guess at that point, whats a few million more for C4C? http://www.treas.gov/tic/mfh.txt
Government wants to help its citizens, not those who go into debt buying a new car? Give every citizen in the USA, one year off, from paying income tax. Not much for some, more for others, but it will help EVERY SINGLE PERSON!
This is definately an emotional subject and we already closed one due to language and arguments. I've just edited 2 more posts for language so I guess it's time to put this one to rest also.
