Window Decals??

Hi, all... i recently found a car with what i was TOLD is a factory option I've never seen or heard of. Its a 1987 IROC-Z (confirmed by the 16" tire size on the door jamb)
Here's what i see... It has a kind of frosted glass looking stripe along the bottom of the side glass that says "IROC -Z", with a similar stripe across the t top.
I know, i know... the owner SAYS it's original, That means squat. But... has anyone else ever seen this? No, i didn't think to snap a picture, or look for any odd codes on the spid label, but... I'm likely buying it tomorrow regardless. Pretty clean car, no huge issues, i kinda like it. Lol
If i DO make the purchase, I'll be sure to take pictures plenty... but in the meantime... does this sound remotely right to ANYONE? I'm pretty familiar with IROC's, so I'm pretty sure this was an 80s "custom" job on what looks to be a pretty original car. Butttttttt, i have been fooled before!!!
Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you much!!!

Phil

That's what I was thinking, although I've seen GM do some goofy stuff over the years. Just wanted to make sure it's safe to break out the razor blade!! Thank you!

Yeah that was real popular back in the day... the ones that would go across the top of the windshield or the back glass, even more so. One of those "trends" that is mostly now gone and forgotten (except by the rĄce crowd... they can keep it )

Cross your fingers.... as that was popular too... and sand blasting stuff on the glass, like VIN numbers.

In fact, I was just reading an insurance co how to prevent theft, and the Vin on the glass was one of them to make a car less likely to get stolen.

The VIN for my Firebird is etched into all the glass, t-tops included.
