Body by Fisher sill plates...?

Just a question that has been nagging me for some time. GM's Body by Fisher was dissolved in 1984. Why is it the Body by Fisher logo is on our sill plates, mine for example is an 87 with the logo on the sill.

Any thoughts,

Louis

Re: Body by Fisher sill plates...?

FB was a separate GM division with an assembly presence at most GM factories until being phased out starting in the late 1960's by the conversion of branded assembly plants to the new unified GMAD.

through the 1970's and the early 1980's as a part of GM - FB still had a major part to manage in the design of a large segment of GM's product line until the elimination of GMAD in 1984 with the company wide restructuring effort ordered by Roger Smith.

As part of the dissolution any GM makes that were designed by FB prior to the break up would continue to carry the FB coach insignia.

...still remember the white GTA notchback in the Fisher building lobby over the summer one year.

Once tooled, the Fisher parts carried through production.

As an aside the fisher family post GM invested in vineyards in California's Napa Valley. There they operate the Fisher Vineyards and up to 2017- had a lease with GM to operate the prestigious Coach Insignia restaurant located at the top of the GM Renaissance center main tower where the history of Fisher Body in conjunction with GM was on display for diners.

The Fisher Family today: http://www.fishervineyards.com/winery/the_team.php

Only $108.00 dollars for a bottle for Fisher-vineyards-coach-insignia-cabernet-sauvignon
