Camaro or Trans am cluster? FYI, if your installing it in your 88 vert a 91-92 won't work in that car.

I bought one thatg said 82-92 140 cluster and decided not to keep it. Whats the stlye difference? I have a 92 rs 25th annversary. Looking for $100 plus shippping.

Camaro and Firebirds have a totally different cluster. Camaro's from 82-89(or about that time) had a cable driven speedo. 90-92 had a electronic speedo. I thought Firebirds were the same but was told by a member that Firebird got the electronic speedo in 87 or 88-92.

Easy way to tell what you have(without pulling the cluster) is to look at what you have hooked to the tranny. The VSS on the tail shaft housing. 1 wire connection only, you have a electronic speedo. 1 wire connection and a cable you have a cable driven speedo. If you find one, ask to see the backside of the cluster before you buy it. I've seen a lot of people buy the wrong type. Hope this helps.

Even easier way to check, if you have cruise control check the unit. Again if you have a cable to the CC unit you have cable driven speedo. Wires only to CC unit you have a electronic speedo.
