Seats, Dodge Caliber

It's a stretch but I thought it would be a neat idea if a pair of Caliber seats would fit in our Trans Am/Firebird with some adjustments. I have a Caliber right now for a daily driver and the seats are very comfortable and highly adjustable. They might be a bit tall though I think.

Not only that, there is about 5 different colours (red, yellow, blue, white and orange but the red and orange may be one in the same) for the seat inserts and 2 colours for the overall material (grey and tan). Was browsing the ebay section for the caliber and when I saw them sitting out on their own the idea struck me

You need a big hammer or stick of dynamite for an idea to strike me lol

tell you the truth. I really don't like those seats. I think the insert is terrible. There coomfy... but look ugly in my opinion at least. Youll need to either delete your back seats or reupholster them to look like those to. If not it will look extremely ugly.

They will fit,you just need to make a set of bracket's to mount your factory bucket seat track's to,so you can mount to the factory stud's and wholes.

Re: Seats, Dodge Caliber

The real question isn't can the fit in a Trans Am, it is why would you want them in a Trans Am? It looks like they ran out of fabric during the middle of upholstery and decided to throw in what scraps they had from other seats. You should be able to find a lot of other seats that are just as comfortable and look good.

That wouldn't be too hard I guess, lots of steel here at work.

I think the insert is terrible
hehe! Well I don't mind it really, and it's not a solid orange colour. It's like a mesh orange with a touch black cross hatching.

Was just a thought, be a simple solution for those that like the colour inserts to add a splash of colour on the inside too. If I were to replace (i might re-upholster depending on cost) the seats I'd love to get the Ronin style from these guys:

Those would look great. Why would you even consider the Caliber seats when you are thinking about these?

Re: Seats, Dodge Caliber

I'm not much of a fan of the racing look style of seats, and the one from Iroc is the only one I've seen that I like the look of. The Caliber seats were just an idea, since I sit in them every day at the moment hehe!

The race seat thing has been run into the ground, you see them in everything these day's and I think it is getting old, kinda like jacking up the rearend of the car like in the 70's.

Since you already have set in your DD...4 nuts & 2 screws and the seat is out of your 3rd gen. Pull a Caliper seat, set it in there, and see how far off it is, and get a idea of what it looks like.

I want a 5 pt style set of seats (in particular, I want black seats, and might as well get 5 pt seats while I'm at it), but I'm not about to shell out several hundred on seats I can't sit in and feel them first.

Re: Seats, Dodge Caliber

I currently have seats from a Dodge Conquest in my Trans Am. You can check my CarDomain for a few interior pics (but I'm afraid I don't have many recent pics...) Here's a pic to give you an idea...

Re: Seats, Dodge Caliber

Amazing! The head rests look EXACTLY the same as what is on the Caliber seats lol! As a matter of fact the side supports on the backrest also look very familiar. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole seat was copied and used again.

Thanks for the photo!

p.s. You know I don't remember these cars at all? Were they even in Canada? All we had were Lasers and Daytona's in the 80's, that resemble the Conquest in any way.

Looking closer it sure does look a lot like the Cali seats.

Re: Seats, Dodge Caliber

i drove a toyota matrix a while back, and that thing had the most comfortable seats i have sat in for quite some time (well, my continental is a bit more plush, but i don't think THOSE seats would look right in my rs), and the wetsuit-like upholstery is just so weird i love it.

Those EXACTLY the same seats I have, except mine are in black. They are extremely nice seats, adjustable everything...
Here is an extremely old pic I found from when I first got them...
