Okay heres the deal. I saw the Speedhut post, and I knew a chainer friend of my dads had some eally different one off gauges in his 'glas hotrod.
So, I called him and he said they were Auroras (division of Autoloc). The gauge has an inner and outer bezel. You can buy one of their prefab designs (they have over 100) or design your own and they'll print and diecut them (the overlay is mylar) for $25 each, he also paid for autoloc to design his gauges and paid out his a$$, but hes a goldchainer so its okay. I imagine if you knew someone with poster artist and a plotter/cutter, this could be done MUCH more reasonably assuming you can find the proper mylar.

I used to work in a sign shop, but my ex-boss deserves the fleas of a thousand angry camels, so I cant exactly ask him. Anyway they have a design your own section, and people post their designs. Admittedly, theres a few cool ones, and several extremely pointless ones...BUT theres a couple tasty chevy ones and one or 2 pontiac ones.
Some of you guys are extremely talented!! How about some thirdgen love at this gauge site? Soumething classy, perhaps a camaro logo or emblem, and a black and gold small firebird logo at the top/bottom of the gauges (a lot of the designs are centered in the gauge and a lot of it is obscured by the fulcrum of the needle) Additionally, a lot of people are silly and the speedos only go to 100mph...we need 140mph at least LOL
I dont have the cake for new gauges just yet, but if I could get them over the winter and then spring the extra hundred for the custom faces the following summer...it'd be quite tasty indeed. Sidenote: with the modular design of these gauges, you could change the look of your interior for 100 bucks in faces as many times as you wanted (assuming a local sign shop cant replicate this for you); instead of totally different gauges.
