Axle/Gears: Stock. Wanting up grade

speedo swap

i own a 84 firebird with a 305 carbed.
i was wondering if i swapped my speedo cluster with a 2.8 OEM, would it be a direct fit? or even a few minor changes?

i believe that it wouldnt at least for the tach. v6 tachs are different from v8s. I would play it safe and wait to look for one from a v8. They always have people auctioning them on ebay too.
