hvac vac lines?

I had my radio out and went ahead and took my hvac contols out to replace a couple bulbs. I noticed that behind the hvac contols there are what appear to be two purple vacuum lines that have been cut about 6 inches behind the controls and plugged with screws. Anyone know what these are for?

Depending on the location of the vent selector switch, the vacuum is run in different directions to open/close different vents.

BTW, I'm in Cary - we should hook up sometime!

Re: hvac vac lines?

2 purple? mine has 1, but it goes to the motor. should have (gray black, orange, red, tan, blue and purple) mine's a 90 by the way so maybe you do have different colors. purple goes to something with the gray and then through the firewall by the distributor, then splits to a vacuum source and the vacuum tank

Ok I'll check it out and see if I can figure out what it is supposed to go to. Evertything works on my vent system except the a/c but I don't think that has anything to do with these vac lines. I'm just curious about what they are for.

Hey I think I might have actually got some firebird parts from you from craigslist. I remember the green 92 camaro with the implanted 350. I drive a black and gold T/A with the 305 tpi.
