door panel question

door panel question

i have an 82 trans am and i need help taking the door panel off that parts easy but the trouble i have is the plstic sill type peice i cant take that off and couldnt figure out how, i cracked it so i just stopped and desided to ask first, also need help with removing and installing window motors

Are you talking about the thing on the very top of the door panel? Or the plastic trim pieces around the inside handle and lock?

The pieces around the handle - there is one screw under the open handle - then there are the Torx screws around the outer edges - some of the Torx screws are real, some are fake - just try each one slowly and carefully to see which ones actuallt start to screw out.

The top plastic is supposed to be part of the entire door panel. The process is to pop the plastic tabs from the bottom of the panel out of the door, then with window all the way down, tilt the bottom of the door panel upwards as you work the plastic top out of the window channel. It's hard to describe - but you are tilting the bottom outwards (towards the interior of the car) as you are pushing the top plastic down slightly and towards the outside of the car.
