unaligned plastic: what screw?

Hello

I have this wrong alignment in the marked piece. The more I tighten the screw, the more the plastic goes out.

I noticed the screw hole is not vertical, kinda oblique. Is it correct? What kind of screw should I use?

That look like the correct screw, it should be longer than the others like it.The angle is also not vertical, but diagonal is the best way i can describe it.

Just snug tight should do, otherwise you'll get what you have from over tightening.

Re: unaligned plastic: what screw?

your angle needs to be toward the outside of the car a smidge..that seems to be the right screw, but it screws thru the carpet into a slot near the sill plate....you'll need to push in and screw by feel, but you will find it eventually...pull piece out, see where hole is, then do it "blindly" by memory...small details like that is important..if you skimp on that tiny detail, the rest could be worse...

Re: unaligned plastic: what screw?

I usually use a very thin phillips head screw driver to find the hole. The shaft of the screw driver will show you the angle you need.

Re: unaligned plastic: what screw?

Unscrew the screw, then use an awl to locate the original hole for the screw. Then screw it back in at the correct angle.
