Starting an LT1 Swap
Well I started out with an 89 Camaro RS and the screen name un4given way back in the day. Later on I upgraded to an 89 IROC-Z and changed my name to "pennylessZ28" becuase I was 19 and broke.
After wrecking my IROC I got an 01 GT Mustang, and wrecked that too, damn superchargers and rain don't mix.
Anyhow, I got back into F-body's becuase, mind you I've been running the f-body group in my sig all this time.
I bought a 1994 Pontiac Trans AM GT in March of 2004. Wasn't long before I was tearing into the motor.
Last Jan I started out with a mild engine build up, becuase of a blown head gasket, had the heads cleaned, ported and polished, and picked up a cam. Got some headers and exhuast, rockers, you know the deal.
Even painted the engine, since we pulled out the underside of the car....
All that work and 6 months later I bent a rod!
So here I am today, staring at my Trans Am wondering what to do.
This car was nice, but I only bought it to be fast, and second only becuase the LS1 was going to be to much insurance for Mr. -18 demirt points here.
So I've decided to get back intouch with my roots. I enjoyed my IROC-Z like no other. I had alot of good sweet memories with that car.
And after watching a friend restore an 1LE SCCA car, I just fell in love with the idea of building up another 3rd generation f-body.
So I plan on putting the LT1 to use. Since the car came with a 4L60E I'm leaving that in the car, but the motor is going into the right 3rd gen. Along with a t56.
Guess I'm going to have to stroke the motor this time. Hurm..... the possiblities
So, this is the start of a long process. Except to be seeing me posting here more often.
