donor or parts?

The 305 has just got to go. 190hp when the new 2010 v6 is knocking down 306 while getting 29mpg is driving me nuts.

My genius plan is to do a swap to an ls1, however I will likely not start it for a few years but I want to know what I should be looking for. So what is best, getting an engine and buying everything separate or finding a donor car and making the swap that way?

I need some time to get projects done around the house and with the current economy I am gonna need some time to save $. After the new paint I would also like some time to drive this thing around.

Any and all help would be welcome as I have a lot of time to make this decision.

Re: donor or parts?

It would most likely be easier if you had a whole car to swap from. That way there are a lot of little things you can swap over to use that you wont have to hunt forums/junkyards for. Buying a pullout isnt a bad idea, just make sure everything you will need is included. some people that sell pullouts dont give you things like a shifter, some of the accessories, no pedals or clutch hydraulics, etc.

When you get more serious about doing this swap, send me a pm. Im an LS1/f-body parts dealer in the midwest and can hook you up as i have already helped out a few board members already. i can either get you a whole car to get everything out of, or i can just get you the pullout with some of the other important parts you might want to change over. I will be looking forward to hearing from you.
