A4 to M6
Im doing the ls1 m6 swap to my 88 iroc. The car is a
a auto car. Are they a write up in how to do the conversion from a a4 to m6 or can someone tell me how to do it. Can I use the pedals from the ls1 car or do I need to buy a set from a 5 speed 3rd gen?Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The basics:
-Cut a shifter hole in the tranny tunnel
-Cut a hole for the clutch master cylinder and drill 2x mounting holes
-Swap out the auto brake pedal assembly for the clutch/brake assembly from a manual 3rd or 4th gen (only requires you to loosen up 5x bolts and its easiest to do this with some super long extensions (like 3 foot extentions) and lower the steering column to get the 2x top bolts. Its very easy actually.
-The factory under-padding on all 84+ 3rd gens have the pattern already etched into it for the clutch master cylinder. You can actually drill the pilot holes for the mounting holes and the big hole for the master right through the padding/sound deadening. Use the master cylinder support "legs" (from 3rd gen pedals) or "bracket" (from 4th gen pedals) to know exactly where it needs to be positioned
Those are the very basics but its not to bad.

I know this will sound harsh but honestly do a search in this forum about the conversion.There are good threads covering this swap with detailed pics and pros/cons to using 3rd vs 4th gen pedals etc.Overall its not hard to swap.I did mine based solely on the info I found here using 4th gen pedals myself and I like them... no issues so far a year later of daily driving/abuse lol.Good luck on your build.

Like was said, its a very easy swap just time consuming. Also just swap out the whole pedal setup. Many people say that they have to modify 4th gen pedals to even bolt up but mine bolted up fine even with the gas pedal. Not sure why people wouldn't wanna use the whole thing when possible? Most say to use the 3rd gen pedals because it makes the clutch setup easier to run and work better. Not really sure about that one though.
