Re: Breaking her down for paint / mild restore.
putting it back together is the fun part last night I put my fenders and nose and hood back on put the lights in and the turn signals. I learned something to there are holes in the fenders that line the fenders up where they need to be. I figured thats what they were for but most cars i have seen those were not lined up the z they lined up and everything looked good when done. the iroc was a different story
I like teh way yours looks with the gray stripe looks great the more you put back on it the better it will look.

Got her home this afternoon and already got started. Got the rear bumper, tail lights, rear spoiler, passenger mirror, and side marker lights on. That's all for today.

Dude I am really impressed with the quality from your MAACO! That looks really good! I really like the color of the stripe also.

That's funny that you say that. I've gone downstairs 5 times for no reason at all other than to look at my car.

Did a little work today, but need to stop. I gotta go visit my dad and am probably going to a movie after that. I got my gas tank door, rear qtr gfx extensions, passenger door gfx, and my back wheels on today. Tomorrow I hope to finish the drivers door gfx and everything up front.

Looks great man. Yep, flash messes up your pictures. The best ones are outside with the natural sunlight. Keep up the good work and have fun at your dad's and the movies.

Re: Breaking her down for paint / mild restore.
Once I get her all back together, I'll get some real pics outside somewhere nice. Garage pics will have to do for now until I get her ready for a ride (to show off) I know all body shops arent the same, so do your homework wherever you go. I lucked up with this Maaco I think. They do really good work and everyone throughout the whole process was really nice and knowledgeable. I will definately bring them future work.

Re: Breaking her down for paint / mild restore.
Just ordered all my weatherstripping. I have enough funds left to either buy a complete emblem set (gfx, rear bumper, nose) or get carpet. Not sure which I wanna get first. Emblems would be nice to finish off the paint, but carpet would be nice since it's already torn apart. ugh, decisions decisions..

I would buy the carpet now because that way you can put all your interior together. Emblems although look nicer, are easier to install later because you don't have to take anything apart. Just my

Re: Breaking her down for paint / mild restore.
yeah, that's a good point. I can do the emblems pretty much anytime..
EDIT: Just ordered the carpet, but it won't be here for like 2 1/2 weeks.
I should have all the WS this coming week though, so that's good.

Got the rear carpet, headliner, sunvisors and A-pillar trim in today. Weatherstripping should be in later this week and then I have to wait about 2 weeks for the front carpet to come.

Re: Breaking her down for paint / mild restore.
Wow man, that paint turned out great! Your patience and attention to detail has paid off! Maaco seems to be hit and miss and it looks like you hit! My brother had an 89 GTA that had been painted by Maaco before he bought it and it looked great. It's actually well known on tgo, it used to be owned by flyinlow, my brothers name is 85maroZ28, look him up and you'll see his camaro and the GTA he had. Anyways I'm curious since the car isn't actually a Z but has all the Z parts on it, what are you going to put on it for emblems? Also I'm SO glad you got rid of that hideous front bumper! Keep the updates coming man! I also think the car would look good with a set of lowering springs and some 17 or 18" wheels, I know they're never ending projects though and it's all about the money!
Here's a pic of the GTA my brother had that was painted at Maaco...it's real close to the factory color, just a little brighter...

Re: Breaking her down for paint / mild restore.
Thanks man, I would definately recommend this Maaco to anyone. They did a great job. I'm not saying that it's absolutely perfect, but it's not a 5k paint job either.
Yeah, I'm kinda in a spot on the emblems because it's neither a Z28 or an RS. It's just a sport coupe and that's all it will ever be. That being said, it's going to have Z28 emblems on it. I would never try and pass it off as anything other than what it is, a tribute car / clone I guess.
Once I get the interior freshened up and all put back together, that will be it for this year. It definately needs updated suspension and modern wheels, but that will be added after a performance swap. The little 2.8 just doesn't go with the cars new looks, so I will swap that out for a built sbc sometime next year and ditch the 5 speed for a 6 speed, then upgrade the rear. Then after all that will come the suspension, brakes and wheels etc... As always it's an ongoing process. I wish I had the funds to do it all at once, but that's not gonna happen. I'll get some new pics as the interior starts to come together.

Edited my post and added a pic of the GTA I was talking about. Your plans for the car sound great! It definitely needs a new motor to back up the way it looks now..

That's a beautiful car. And on second thought , I may just have
A custom set of emblems cut on the water jet whre I work.
I'll put some thought into it and see what I can come up with.

You should have some custom "Sport Coupe" emblems made. Those would be accurate, custom, and cool.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards something custom. I'll have to think about it. The good news is that all my weatherstripping came in today. Feeling tired today though. I might wait til Saturday to put it in. I got the complete T-top kit, door kit and the window triangle kit.

Got all my weather stripping installed today. Also installed both door panels and handles, etc. Starting to look like a car again. Pretty much at a stand still now until my carpet comes in.

Re: Breaking her down for paint / mild restore.
My new carpet came in today and looks great (on the garage floor.) lol.
I hope to have time Saturday to remove the console and drivers seat, so I can install it. I also have a new head unit that will be going in since I will have the console out. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel for having my camaro all back together again.

Thanks for the tip. I've heard to do that as well.
I guess I'm a little behind on the pics as I've had the
weatherstrip and door panels on a few days with no pics.
