What's it worth?
Hey, guys! Newbie here...but don't beat me too bad. My second car back in the day was a '92 Firebird 305 TBI, 700R4. We also had a '69 Camaro drag car, and I now own 1997 LT4 Firehawk #9 or 29 produced. So, I know and have had a few F bodies over the years...just new to Thirdgen!
So, I found a car locally that I may buy...to kinda "broker" as such. I haven't gone to look at it, yet...hopefully tonight. It's a 91 GTA with 119k miles. It's a 350 auto car, in blue. It has some rust on the hood where the paint did the GM thing and crapped itself. I know the blue was a rare color, and the 350 GTA's were fairly hard to come by, too. KBB says $2800 in fair condition, but I've seen considerably higher numbers on here for similar cars (blue 91 305 Formula, other colors of 91 GTA's, etc). I'm just trying to get a feel for the "right" price.
If this is the wrong place to post, tell me where the right place is. I've never been to any other forums without a "anything goes" type board for this stuff.
Thanks!

Any idea of how much the owner is asking?
I'd say around the kbb range is a good start. 2500 to 3000 bucks.
Depending on condition of the drivetrain and such.
Since it needs paint / body work you might be able to get it on the lower side of the range.

Thanks for the reply.
You gotta love folks who know half what they think they know. Above was the description I was given by the owner. Below is the truth.
1991 Formula 350 WS-6. Light blue exterior, light gray interior. 119k miles. PW, PL, PM, PH, RWD, etc.
Bad:
-Front end is an off shade of blue, needs painted to match.
-Hood paint is crap, with baseball sized areas of surface rust all over.
-Tires are shot. Right rear quarter panel has enough rubber on it to make a new tire, though. Hmmmm...
-It took 10 minutes to get the hood opened. Special combination of pushing down, slapping, cussing, and otherwise finessing it whilst I held the release out inside. Nice.
-No battery.
-Get this...the real deal maker!...The owner lost the keys 2 years ago. The car has been sitting behind his house ever since. He will not go get keys made because "If I had it runnin', I'd wanna keep it!" My reply?..."If you don't get it runnin', I bet you're gonna have to keep it!" So, there it sits in the back yard with 2003 or 2004 tags on it, unlocked, rusting away in the grass.
Good:
-The body is very straight.
-The floors felt good just rubbing my hands under the body.
-The interior is very good. I didn't look at the dashpad, but the seats, carpet, door panels, etc are very nice.
-It's REAL fast (according to the owner)...it'd probably outrun the 99 T/A WS-6 that they have now, even. I tried to get him to get a key and I'd race him in the old ragged '97 Firehawk of mine for pink slips, but he wouldn't do it.
He's asking $2500, but dropped to $2000 while I was there. I'd imagine $1500 would take it home, but I'd be scared of it without hearing it run. I didn't ever tell him that there was a difference between a GTA and a Formula. KBB on the car in fair condition is $2430 according to their website.
I'm out! I really want a 86-90 T/A with T-Tops anyway, but was going to buy this one to drive until I could find what I really wanted. I think I'd be better to hold off and buy what I want in the first place.
Thanks again!
