Re: Calling all VA third gen owners
Time is set for March 7 at 1:30 pm at the Bedford Wal Mart. We will convoy down to the Roanoke Civic Center about an hour or so later. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Justin, I got a look at your Formy, beautiful ride, hope you hold onto it.
1bird, thanks for the parts (especially the engine and rear end). I like the spoiler and I think it will make a good addition to my camaro. the old man said hello as well.
hey MJ, he ain't joking about the junkyard thing, lots of stuff to pick from if you got the time to go check it out.

Its about a 3 or 4 hour drive for me. So unless a lot of people are going, its not really worth it for me.

My car should be ready to roll by then, so I'll be there in my Formula. If not, it'll be a Toyota

I will have to meet at the car show....I can't justify the expense of driving to Bedford when I live 20 minutes from Roanoke on SML side...Blue Z28 Convertible and should have Armed Forces VET tags....See yall there

Re: Calling all VA third gen owners
the engine has a bent connecting rod on the #6 piston and half the piston shattered on it. I got enough parts to replace it. The rear end has a bit of road tar on it but it will work out fine. I put the seats in, a big change, I love them. I'm going to shave my spoiler trim off and put that spoiler you gave me on it. Hood latch is great. Everything turned out good, I just got to find the time to put it all back together. I hope that I can get that engine all put together in time but I don't think its going to happen.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Calling all VA third gen owners
I hope your kidding on the engine. But if your not and you need some parts, I am sure I have some 305 pistons and rods lying around. If you need them let me know and I will swap out bad parts for good. I alway make problems right as long as I know about them in a reasonable amount of time. I can swap out a full set of rods and pistons for the bad ones. that way you shouldnt need any machine work. Let me know! Thanks

I am also at Smith Mountain Lake. (see resto message board for my thread: low-buck father-son restoration)
If anyone can give me some tips on where to find some yards that have thirdgen parts, I'd be obliged. We have two... my son's project is an 87 bird with a 2.8 and the block is cracked. We are exploring our options. I'd like to tackle a V8 conversion, because it's a lot easier to get the motors and parts, but my son is very budget-conscious.

Re: Calling all VA third gen owners
Every Saturday night, in Manassas there is a car gathering at the BURGER KING on route 28. It is near the corner of 234 and route 28. This would be a cool place for us to gather ( very large parking lot, lot's of HOT ROD's ) I would like to start a club, and have a once a month cruise ( if we had enough participants ). Contact me at jkyu5@excite.com if you think you'd be interested! I'm from Texas, living now in Manassas and I remember all the times we use to gather at the nearby SONIC on the last Saturday of every month. We could bring that type of excitement here and begin something fun. There are so many more places to cruise here in Virginia, like a Saturday morning cruise from here to Cumberland, MD ! Any ideas, drop me a line!

Re: Calling all VA third gen owners
As far as I know, we are still good for the 7th at 1:30 in Bedford for the cruise to the car show.
Embassing thing happened to me. My rear view mirror fell off and took a chunk of the glass with it. Now I got a nice little 8 inch crack in the middle of the windshield. 1bird, start getting that front windsheild ready, I might need it sooner than I thought.
On a parts looking side of things, I am looking for an 82-84 Z28 hood for the wifes car. I'm working really hard to get it going before the car show but I think I might come up a little short.

Re: Calling all VA third gen owners
I'd love to meet up... The 7th I'm at MIR drag racing my Ninja 636 though I can bring my '92 Formula anywhere within an hour of DC, but I'm starting a rebuild on her 305 this weekend so most likely I'll just be on my bike if we meet anywhere else. If you do the Manassas thing I'll come check out the cars.

Lookin forward to Saturday. 1bird, all you buddies still coming? I'll be in Bedford at 1:30 at the Wal-Mart to link up with anyone that wants to come. Can't miss my Cammie, teal hardtop w/black ground effects. See you guys and gals there. I'll probably sit around until 2:30 until I head to Roanoke for the MDA Car Show so, that will give everyone plenty of time to meet and greet with everyone.

I should be at the walmart at around 2 hopefully, but its a long drive. I know my 1 friend is coming 100% for sure with his 1999 LS1 Trans Am. You'll see me riding in the 1992 Red Firebird with gold cross lace wheels.

I haven't heard anything from 1brd about him going to the show, and I don't think he ended up calling anyone about going to it. I'll probably go though.

that sucks! Same thing happened to me last time we were all supposed to meet up so I kinda blew it off and went to work instead.
