Ohio Law. Clear tails
This is not a strictly third gen question, but applies to any and all vehicles. It was my understanding that at least in OH, clear lens tail lights (clear or white plastic, with a red bulb) was illegal, and not DOT approved.
But recently in the last couple of years I've been seeing a new Lexus SUV that comes from the dealer with clear tails. This has always bugged me.
So was I mistaken? Does anyone know what the law states on this? I suppose I could call the Highway patrol, but I tried that once before and they don't seem to always have the answers.
When I had my camaro stripped for paint and I needed to move it, I called them to ask what the minimum I needed to be street legal (i.e. do I need headlights if I'm not driving at night?) and they didn't seem to know, and actually referred me to an impound lot to answer my questions.

idk for sure about the tail lights although i do not believe they are illegal as long as the brakes shine red... as for your headlights dont need to be there as long as you are not drivin between the hrs of dusk and dawn.... take this from a former police officer you will be fine with the clear lenses as long as the bulbs still shine the correct color for the the location they are in
