What's your take on expensive? I got mine for 1000 from summit but there's cheaper. I had a set of patriot aluminums for 600. They don't have to be aluminum either

Maybe alot of people on here can afford to spend that kind of money on mods like that but I just spent $1,800 on my car last month and my wife wouldn't be happy if I spent another $600 or $1,000 on heads.

irocz23- car looks damn good. you could always roll those fenders just in case of rubbing. my 305's cut the edges of my tires on some bumps im considering doing it.
camaroiroc88350- matt i still got those trickflow's if you or anyone else wants them. i'd prolly sell pretty cheap right now.

I thought you sold them for $700? I asked you about them almost a month ago or close to when I had money. I could possibly buy them in the near future as I'm moving to save money but I am sure we could work something out. I wouldn't mind having those heads, they would be great for my ride. I'm moving to St. Peters today, so we'll be closer to meet up. PM me if you want.

Well, I took a ride out today because it was so nice but it's supposed to rain so that made me come home early.

I'm over here by Jungermann and close to I-70 now. It's about a 7 minute drive to the outer road from where I'm at.

Heck, I don't know. I know I'm about 10 minutes from where I came to see you last summer. I would be North I guess if you go down the Outer Rd., make a left at that Burger King and keep going down that road.

Both you and Nick got it wrong, Hooters has AWESOME wings! Boneless of course. I like the teriyaki wings they have. Really good stuff. I did realize last night that there is a Hooter's next door now. I used to have to drive all the way down to SoCo. to get there. Not now.

Hooters has good wings but not breaded and some of the women are smoking and then some are just ok. sounds like me, you and nick should hit up wing stop. it'll change your mind!

Basically can I drive it safely without hurting the trans? I should know the answer to this question and my gut/experience tells me that the car will be fine until I do a flush or add some fresh fluid in.

Re: St. Louis, Missouri area F-Body guys
Did you check for a metalic look in the oil? Changed the trans fluid on my 98 dodge and it was a bernt red color (brownish red) with silver flakes in it.. knew it was bad at that point... 2 weeks later boom fireball out from under the truck and a locked up trans.
$1500 rebuild and only useable part was the case.. so for extra insurance, id pull the pan change the fluid and look for any silver flake on the base of the pan, and also check the magnet for silver flake, if theres a lot, you got issues, if not you should be fine.
Just going off what little i know about auto transmishons, only blew up 2 in my life and both had a high silver flake coloring in the brownish red trans fluid.
Also nice teck tip... NEVER, EVER, EVER put Lucas Oil Trans Stop Slip in your trans, or your going to have a bad day...
My dad did it in his 01 dodge, and he made it a grand tottal of 35 feet after putting that crap in the trans.. changed the fluid and it had gummed up the filter so bad it was oozeing out for 30 minits after i pulled it.. Installed new fluid and lasted annother 25,000 miles before it blew up.

Last August I had him put a new filter on and I think it was 5 or 6qts. of transmission fluid. However much the pan takes. But he told me not to worry, I can drive on it. The car has never had a flush to my knowledge so it would make sense for the old fluid to mix in with the new fluid. Thanks for the tip on the Lucas brand. I will be sure not to put that into my car.
I do think that I will end up buying a professionally built transmission this year with the works done to it. As much as I can afford at least. At 150k original miles I think it would be a good investment to do so.

Re: St. Louis, Missouri area F-Body guys
Hey, I need to know something. I did a fluid and filter replacement (not a flush) for my transmission last August. I checked my fluid just now and it's above the add mark (I checked at 200F and shifted my transmission through the gears 1st) but it's a reddish brown color. I was going to add some fluid to it but I need to know if I should worry about the brownish color with the red?
Basically can I drive it safely without hurting the trans? I should know the answer to this question and my gut/experience tells me that the car will be fine until I do a flush or add some fresh fluid in.

If I did a flush it's a gamble too. By removing all of that old fluid out along with the new fluid, I take the risk of messing up the transmission and I need it because it's my only car. So I don't know about a flush, those aren't really a good thing most of the time especially for a car this old.

Bluezee is correct. There's a thread on it just a few threads under this one.
Basicly I'm building my car up one mod at a time, the intiror is shot and looking for ideas on how to fix it up without loseing the true retro look but maintaining a modern look.
I'm going to old school mechanical gauges threwout on the car, some new racing styled bucket seats, rebuilding the dash, installing new speakers threwout the car, building a headliner as I don't have one, new carpeting, new seals, and well basicly a slow resto as its my only car right now and at $3.15 a gal I gotta drive it when the motor gets finished.... just gotta stab it in and bolt it up.

Im installing a crapy 305 bored .30 over and mild rv cam in it with some light head work done to it.. just a temporary motor to get my car down the road till my 383 is finished, and i figure out how to install a nice 5 or 6 speed trans.
Its not much fun but eh.
Iroc-z_23 murdered my ace.. that car is sick..
Anyone want to help shoot me in a good directshon for some nice looking wheels for my 92 rs? My custom ones i had well there was 2 bent in a wreak and i didnt know they where bent as bad as they are.
Dont got a ton of cash and want to stay with 16s, and not have to buy wheel adapters that run $100 a wack. Any help would be awsome, i looked threw the hole wheel n tire area but really got no help there.
So far ive found the aftermarket z28 wheels and like them, but want something a tad differnt, but anything beats the hell out of stock rs wheels with no center caps lol.. oh and scratched all to hell to boot.

Re: St. Louis, Missouri area F-Body guys
Well, this morning as I left home to go down to Ballwin the car was acting fine until I got close to Manchester/Hwy. 141. After getting onto 141 the transmission started acting funny and the RPM's shot too high. After getting onto Manchester Rd. going from a stop the car would not go, it would not engage drive until about 20mph. Each stop I had to make at a red light made me go from 0-20 with the car acting like it was in neutral and the RPM's were going too high. I made it to my destination and then I came back home with my friend following me. Speeds after 21mph were relatively easy going so I'm guessing sprags or something in the internal part of the trans. was going out. In 25 minutes this all happened so I'm just thankful I made it home.
Then I took it to Mid America Transmission because I need my car fixed soon. So it'll be about $1,500 and they're going to install my Corvette servo and B&M shift kit free of charge, all under warranty. I told them I expected this to happen, the trans. going out first. So hopefully they'll have it up and running really good by the end of next week. I will have all new internals for my 700r4 and it'll have the rebuilt stall converter in there too. New fluid, new filter, new everything. So hopefully the new rebuilt transmission will last another 150,000 miles!

Ah man that sucks..... but atleast you get ur new parts installed free.
As for 4th gen wheels I have a set and will need adapters to fit the front wheels on the car dew to they hit on the wheel, u can get a 1/4 tern on the wheel before it locks up.

Yeah weather is crap won't be able to tear up streets this weekend, maybe next weekend
You should take a ride in mine. I have tci internals in mine and hughs converter with tci constant pressure valve body. It's awesome. I also have stealth pro ratchet shifter which makes it really fun.
You can't ever go wrong with iroc rims or Boyd coddington 5 spokes look awesome

Mine is out of commission for probably a month. I just want it done before the show in April at the lake.
I took out my whole engine wiring harness to have it redone, and I found that I have a coolant leak somewhere, so I need to track that down, plus I'm trying to finish the spoiler mod that I started a while back.

If everybody's going to the lake we should meet up and cruise down at the same time. I'm staying all weekend anybody else?

Re: St. Louis, Missouri area F-Body guys
Im on the other side of the lake, and my car is no where near show worthy, but i would like to meet up with you guys and finish the cruse in from are meeting point.. I plan on going on there 92 mile cruse and maybe renting a hotel and staying 2 nights.. last time i went it took 3 days to view all the cars, because new ones kept rollin in every day.
Step one for now is to hopefully have the motor in by 3pm tonight, and then wheels n tires, then cowl hood or a desent looking one, the one i got for a x-mas gift is super ugly and was an orginally a z28 hood but it had a huge hole cut in the hood then a real real real crapy hood scoop built.. man its ugly but it was FREE...
But we do have a lot of time from now and then, and i work fast when it comes to paint and body, and intiror work, just not drive train work.. cant get under the car hardly and i work in the dirt so yea.. its no fun, if i didnt weight 155 then im 99% shure i couldnt get under my car as it sits lower then my brothers 95 Cobra.
Im real stoked about meeting you guys, and ive located a few more 3rd gen owners and i'll be droppin by there place and see if i can get then to join in as well.

Just throwing that out there incase you decide you want a nicer wheel 92RS. I refinished these, and merely want to break even with my materials cost more than anything. I am going to just refurbish my current wheels instead. I actually live across the river from you all.
