Re: Anyone in Massachusetts?
Glad to be back. Got the plates on it today and put a few miles on it.
Will need a little work to pass inspection, so hopefully still driving it in two weeks.
Now, when is cruise night around here???

I'm near Albany, NY, so I am not too far from parts of Mass like Adams and Pittsfield.

Re: Anyone in Massachusetts?
The Formula took less work than expected to have it on the road.
It was at the Bass Pro Shops (Foxboro at Gillette Stadium) Cruise night this past Thursday.
Tons of cars and a good time.
But.
There were not very many firebirds at all.
Its happening again this Thursday. Anyone else interested in going?

Re: Anyone in Massachusetts?
It's great to know there are some local firebird owners here. I recently purchased a 1982 Firebird. I just had the transmission rebuilt. The motor was replaced w a Jasper 350 and then the owner lost her license. From what I was told, this motor has under 10k miles... did i mention this is a one owner car.
I previously owned a 1985 Monte Carlo SS, I had it from 18 yrs old to about 26. That was a fun car but the body needed more work than I could afford. In the end, I sold the monte for $1,200, and purchased this firebird for $2k. not bad for an additional $800 and no body rot.
I am in need of some parts, I wonder if the locals can help. Off the top of my head I need a headliner (ttop) seatbelts (black or red) and bumper grills.
here is a link to mass cruisers. they host the car show in the bass pro shop parking lot every other thursday. After some research, they do have a membership cost of $80 per yr. http://clubs.hemmings.com/masscruisers/

Re: Anyone in Massachusetts?
Good morning,
I was wondering how you mount your front license plate? As you may have noticed mine is currently mounted to my broken bumper grill; this is temporary. In mass, when you have plates with red letters you must mount the front plate. In the past I have been pulled over for not having this plate mounted. I would like to avoid being pulled over at all costs; not only is it a pain in the a$$, and a waste of my time, but in general I don't want to be bothered. I am ordering a license plate bumper mounting bracket. Where on the bumper is your plate located? In the center, or off to a side? I've even heard of people leaving it on the dash.
Mars2878 - Thank you for the website, I've already found parts cheaper than other places.

Re: Anyone in Massachusetts?
My '84 has it centered on the front bumper. The '84 & '85 that I'm stripping also had them centered on the front bumpers, but no brackets.
Your welcome. He works for himself so it helps to keep cost down. Check back with him from time to time. He is always new stuff & he has sales.

Re: Anyone in Massachusetts?
I have done nothing extra to the car other than fix what needs to be fixed to keep it going. I wasn't given a huge amount of detail on the motor. This car obviously came with a 305, it was driven for about 200k on the original motor. The owner decided to get the Jasper 350, and I was told it puts out 400 hp. But I suspect it is alittle less. Not long after the motor was replaced the owner lost her license due to tickets etc. And then it sat. It was sold to a family friend who never even registered it. He paid $4k, and sold it to me for $2k. Im glad I got it for this price as I had to rebuild the transmission which cost almost the same.
It has a edlebrock carb, accel dist+wires and long tube headers. It sounds great, nice and deep at idle, real loud when you put the pedal to the metal. I had an inspector try to tell me it could be too loud and "they" don't like exhaust louder than stock. Since he even bothered to mention that, he did not get my business. haha.
I am going to see if there are any tags on the block. If I manage to pull a number off of it, I'm sure the folks over at Jasper Engines can figure out what it has, or what it puts out.
I need to see if the guy I bought it from can dig up some paperwork. I file all paper work to my cars to maintain proper records. But I do not plan on selling this car.

Anyone considering going to the next Patriot Place Thursday night car show?
It's usually every other week. Pretty sure this is an off week.
When I go I am usually one of the very few third gen Firebirds and only 3rd gen Formula to be there. It's be nice to have some company....

Anyone considering going to the next Patriot Place Thursday night car show?
It's usually every other week. Pretty sure this is an off week.
When I go I am usually one of the very few third gen Firebirds and only 3rd gen Formula to be there. It's be nice to have some company....

HEY, Mass cruisers, give out some free passes so you can have some more third gens!

Re: Anyone in Massachusetts?
I would love to show my car there, It definitely won't be the nicest car. but a 3rd gen firebird regardless. My issue is, you need to buy a membership to mass cruisers in order to show your car; they sell a membership for a year for $80. and half yr($40) starts in July through November. In my case, my car is only registered for the spring, summer and fall. Maybe I'll scratch up the cash some year, but not this year. Unfortunately, If I go, my car will be in the visitor lot.
