Re: What kind of project you got going on with your third gen right now?

I f*cked up my fuel pump running outta gas for the 5th time haha so the Maros just been sitting for a while. Took off the old *** tint on the hatch, fixed the headliner & changed the fuel filter while It was sitting there cause I was bored haha. 250's a good price for fuel pump replacement right?

Yeah He's only charging me 180 for the labor. Haha I threw up when I was changing the fuel filter , I guess because of the fumes lol. Also changed my front sway bar end link, pretty easy.

Re: What kind of project you got going on with your third gen right now?

might be comin back to freak accident jus a bad stud everything else looks great thats why its wiers the stud breaks but no sign of wear on the stud from the rocker beatin on it jus like it snapped under load jus a piece of crap really its lookin like it might be an easy fix for everything so hopefully can get it done in no time.

Is that valve tip messed up? A bent valve or some binding going on at full lift? A .500"+ lift cam by any chance?

Re: What kind of project you got going on with your third gen right now?

it a XE256 comp cams the lift come out to .470/.480 with the 1.6 rockers they are screw in studs help for that lift. if you look at the stud the rocker wasnt beating on it, the stud jus failed.

the valve tip looks weird in the picture but looks fine in person. I just think an overtorqueing, improper install was at fault

Re: What kind of project you got going on with your third gen right now?

My '92 Trans Am GTA is currently in the shop being painted. When I get it back, I'm gonna swap in the '88 to '91 Beechwood colored interior. It currently has a black interior. I still need to purchase a new headliner, carpet and leather seat covers. I also have a complete digital dash from a '88 GTA that's going in and the rear seat backs from a Turbo TA. I already have new GTA wheels to put on and some Eibach Sportline springs. All the weather seals are being replaced as well.

I'm still trying to decide whether or not I should swap the airbag steering wheel for the '88 to '89 one with the radio controls. I'm thinking that I more than likely will. She's gonna look like a brand new car when I get done with her. It'll be my interpretation of what the GTA should've been. To me, the '88 and '89 model years were the best as far as options goes, BUUUUUT the '91 and '92 model years are the best looking!

This is how she looks now:

Yeah... the '91 and '92 tail lights are the most attractive tails that Pontiac ever put on any Trans Am IMO.

This week I have a brake project going on. Upgrading to cross drilled and slotted rotors, EBC pads, and replacing the rubber brake lines with stainless lines. Also cleaned up the wheel wells with rubberized undercoating, painted the swaybar red, and painted all my calipers red!

I havnt heard anything good about EBC brakes I hope they work good for you. I went with performance friction and I hated them at first but after 200 miles they finally broke in and are the best pads I have ever used. I hope the EBC's work well for ya...and the car looks really good man

Re: What kind of project you got going on with your third gen right now?

It's sitting right now at my parents house, smh I have to wait til I find out how much refund I get from next semester from school to help pay for my rent. But I drove it for an year, and I spent alot of money trying to fix it parts after parts while driving. Then all of sudden it started leaking oil, so i decided to buy my dad's truck as daily driver and save up my money over summer working two jobs ( I didnt drive the car after school ended in spring). Then the worst turns out that I had to use alot of my hard earned money I saved so hard for a whole semester for rent n bills during school so I can to work part-time to focus on my classes, I'm pre-med major (my parents cant help me for loans). If my bills are the same next semester, I'm looking at about $3k to drop on the car....redoing the engine bay with new performance parts, taking out engine(zz4 5.7L) and take it machinist -$500 to rebuild, new suspension parts (not sure how much it cost), If I still have money left over I will paint the car myself perhaps glossy black and maybe digital gauges then later switch from carb'd to TBI.

I'm thinking about making my own LED Tail lights, I cant find that thread on how to make them for under $40 in this website---If anyone can give me any advice or guide would be nice so I can do a nice mod cheap during my christmas break.

But all the less I am so depressed to not drive my camaro for over 6 months now

led tails for under 40$ seems like a stretch, but i don't know much leds are now.

i'm currently swapping a 3.42 rear end from a fourth gen, and rebuilding an lt1 for the same car. i haven't able to drive it for a while, it sucks.
pics to follow....

Re: What kind of project you got going on with your third gen right now?

Finishing a 7 year project. This car was shell when I started the project. I custom built nearly everything on the car. I mini tubbed the car. Notched custom tubular subframe connectors into the floor pan and tied it into the front subframe and relocated control arm brackets. Installed a 6 point roll bar (Thanks Bias Race Cars for bending the tubing), custom built adjustable torque arm, and panhard bar. I narrowed a 9" and installed moser axles and a detroit locker. I built brackets and spring perches for the 9". Built trans crossmember, and engine mounts. Installed a prostreet fuel cell which is accessed through a flush mount access panel. Custom Gauge panel. I went with manual brakes, Large bore chrysler master cylinder, with line lock and Aeromotive brakes on all 4 corners. I added the ground effects and spoiler, shaved the original fuel access. I done all of the body work and painted it. Engine sb 355 slightly modified, 1 3/4" headers, true 3" dual exhaust, turbo 400 trans(built by Heartland Trans). Torque trust II wheels 17x7's front, 17x11 rear.

The other MAF Im sure is just fine. I found out I am not getting 12v to the MAF itself through the wiring. The ecm is giving the necessary 5v through the MAF signal. I hope to have time today to double check grounds. I already ordered new relays, so I will have an idea what the issue is hopefully before the weekend is over.

Re: What kind of project you got going on with your third gen right now?

Normally it would not have taken so long but since I started the project my wife and I have started a family. Between the family and work it can be hard to find the time and money to keep the project rolling. Thank GOD for a great and understanding wife. I have pictures on my album.

Re: What kind of project you got going on with your third gen right now?

i was reading it and was like nice....nice...nice...(cant wait to see what the engine is)...nice..then I got to the engine combo and was like oh. You plan on doing something crazy for engine in the future? oryou just wanted a pro street kind of look and that is it?

So I went and looked at the pics. Car looks great. I like the custom console with the cup holders. what size tires are on it?

Re: What kind of project you got going on with your third gen right now?

I did not go into much detail on the engine. It is a 355, 10:5:1 compression, sportsman II heads, gasket matched, and bowl blended with stainless valves with the cut down stem. Solid flat tappet cam, victor intake and 750 demon carb, 3,000 stall converter. I am like everyone else I would like more power but I am going to have to wait for the hope and change to settle down so I can afford too. I am torn on what to do when I get the funds to build another engine. I like the idea of a turbo LSX, mainly because of the efficiency and reliability. But I don't know I like to be different, and do not like go down the same path as everyone else. And the rear tires are 315/35/17.
