You know what time it is......
Yes folks, we are at that point again.... It's February and its time to start looking into some ideas for our Spring/Summer GTGs!! During the "off season" lots of ideas were tossed around:
Track Day early March.. I think that's right
2nd annual Santa Cruz run
Cruise somewhere east
So-Cal meetup
Road Coursing in NV
I personally may run to Hearst Castle.. love that place!
Let's get a few other possible ideas out on the table and start making plans to have a fun summer together. Obviously the usual suspects will be involved, hopefully a lot of the newer and returning members can be a part of our events. I'm excited to see what ideas u all have.

I have never been to Hearst Castle so I would be down for that. I would have to leave early to meet you guys but it would be worth it.

Re: You know what time it is......
I was looking for more ideas, dates to start looking at, all that stuff. Last minute planning is always a major FAIL. Just tryin to make sure we have an eventful spring/summer. So feel free to throw some dates out, even if its 4 months from now, let's get some GTGs goin

Re: You know what time it is......
I need to come down in the spring (April) like I did last year. I'd love to do that Santa Cruz run, but you do that in the summer. How bout a cruise up hwy 16 out of Woodland up to hwy 20 west around the north end of Clear Lake to hwy 29 south to 175 west to 101 south. I googled from Woodland to Santa Rafael 4 hrs and 7 minutes. Maybe thats too long?? Stop somewhere for lunch Clear Lake area? Just a thought.

Re: You know what time it is......
Well for one I think the cruise east to Reno and the road course day in Reno can be made into a one day or weekend venture....maybe even do cruise to tahoe then reno then the road course the next day.....or try and squeeze reno and road course in same day..
also a cruise 4 hours one way is too long if that is what Duane was insinuating. 4 hours total is fine.

I am coming home in June and would be down for a 4th of July cruise/track day!
My projected leave dates are 11 June- 10 July. I just need to put a tranny in the bird. Paint will look like crap, but it's whatever...

Re: You know what time it is......
I like the ideas and opinions coming forth.
How far up is clear lake? Bout 90 minutes or so?(from sac)
Del, have u any idea what's up with the Bullet? Also, is it possible for.you to get some emails out for those members who don't check in very often so we can get some ideas and interest from them?
For those who are interested, we can look into a dyno day also.
I am totally game for the NV run. Whether one or two days doesn't matter too much. I think the road course thing would be bananas.
Terrell, doesn't Thunderhill have something along the.lines of road coursing? Is it possible for you to look into that for us please?

We have a couple tracks in the area. To do a track day your looking at $200 to $300 a day through a trackday provider. There is one on March 29/30 at Laguna Seca for $200 thursday/$220 friday. I'll check the other trackday providers and see what the have lined up for the year.

Re: You know what time it is......
Terrell, that would be great!! For all else, if there is.a few more interested in Hearst Castle, we can definitely look into dates and possible hotels(5 min from the castle, and right on the water). It is a.4.5 drive from sac. Right in the Paso Robles area. If the emails to other members produces a few more yes's, I will call down and get some rates for those who may wanna stay for the night.
Del, thanks for sending emails.

Re: You know what time it is......
This is hella funny. I washed the car this morning and instantly got that "itch" to start posting about events. So... here are a couple I have heard about.
Sunday April 15th 2012 @ Brisbane Marina, 5th Annual Derrick Ward Memorial Car Show (I'll post more info on pre-reg as I get it) 10am-4pm
This show has a lot of 60's and 70's cars, but a good showing of all years. I'd like to really get a good thirdgen presence out there because I was the only one last year. They do award prizes and trophies, although the class designations are kind of sketch.
Saturday and Sunday April 28th and 29th 22nd Annual Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show 10am-4pm
http://www.miramarevents.com/dreammachines/
If you follow the "my dream machines" link, there's a write-up of my car from last year
Saturday September 8th 2012 4th Annual Mother's Polish Race N Rods @ Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway
http://www.laguna-seca.com/sites/mai...012rrflier.pdf
This is an absolute MUST attend event guys. You won't have a better time for 35 bucks and a tank of gas. They let you on the track for a parade lap and being in the middle of the paddock during the Continental Grand Am racing is badass. I am going to register asap, even though it's quite a bit later in the year this year. I would also like to get a healthy thirdgen presence out there and would rather roll with Norcal Thirdgen than tag along with another club. Lets make this happen, if we get enough cars, lets say 15-20, we stand to win the participation award for the club, and that would be a sweet honor, not to mention the various awards and prizes they give away all day.

GTG's have to be during a grudge fest or chevy vs. ford day for sure.
1/4 mile track day, west cruise, east cruise, and thunderhill or reno track day are musts in my eyes.

Re: You know what time it is......
Sweet! I looked at Hearst Castle rates last night. There are 4 separate tours, obviously for 4 separate regions of the property. Regular price for three of the tours is $25/tour, about 45 min long each. The 4th is $36 and runs a lil over an hour IIRC. I plan on seeing all the tours, so you will need to decide which one(s) you are most interested in. Discount tickets will be tough to do as they all have to be puchased at one time with one lump sum payment. As I said in prior post, hotels are 5 min from the castle with Motel 6 probably being the cheapest, unless u wanted to go back into Paso Robles or Atascadero. Feel free to.check there website to make a game plan. I'm on my phone so I can't link the site.. but just google Hearst Castle.

Ok.. i know there are a couple other places, I just can't recall who they are. I'm gettin tuned in he next two weeks and my tuner usually puts me on a dyno, but I want others to be able to run theirs also.

I'm fine with SVS if we ever got a day setup, although I would really only dyno if I was getting tuned.
Doubt people want to wait 1+hour for somebody to tune before their turn.
Hard to get enough interest usually. 10+ cars for just a dyno and no tuning.

Hats why I wanted to gauge some interest. When I go to get tuned, I can let them know we might be interested in a dyno day.
