Lemme guess... front latch let go, hood blew up, bounced off top of car, then slid down middle of road, and finally off into the ditch. That happened to me once too. I had a Motion Glass Twin Turbo hood on my 82, and right after I got my 5sp in, I went for a hell run. Little did I know that the hood latch was on it's last leg. Well long story short, 65 mph and I see it start to lift (thank G*d for the saftey catch...I think) so I got on the brakes, well that was too much for the saftey catch and WHAM, that sumbitch came up, slammed into the windshield (didn't break it somehow) and ripped off my car (along with half the right hood hinge). I looked in the mirror (cuz I'm still going about 45), and watch my $350 hood cartwheeling down the road and down into the ditch. No more fiberglass hoods for me. I just can't bring myself to get another one just to have a similar problem.

Yes SLP that is very simmilar to what happened to mine except I had just finished an auto tranny swap and poped the hood to check the fluid (at 6:00 am after an all night wrenching session) and diden't check it then forgot to shut it well the safety latch did not help at all as soon as I pulled out onto the hiway woosh there goes my $400 dollar hood. But it only skidded on it's top so no broken parts except the underside where it was torn off the hinges. Then we threw it into the ditch so we could finish our road trip to Detroit we did however stop and pick it up on the return trip. I'm pretty sure it can be fixed but I have not had the time or money to get it done yet.

Here is mine in the snow. Notice that the 2 inches of snow on the ground caused my valence to drag when I stepped on the brakes. Talk about in the weeds, I love it low like that.

Here ya go, if I'm drivin it, then it'll finally be fixed. I've been slowly workin on it. Well, if you see it, you can't miss it.
I use hood pins to prevent what happened to both of your hoods. Sorry about the misfortune guys.

If anybody wants any help installing hood pins, it's very very simple and I'm willing to help.

Later,
Jesse

The club is called Team F-Body. There site is in my sig but it appears to be down. They meet every Firday and Saturday night in the K-Mart parking lot in Ft.Collins. I doubt I was up there when you had the Lightning. I only make it up there a couple times a month. Here's my ride.

Yeah I saw your previous post about that. I blew out my tire a couple weeks ago so I'm saving my money for new tires but in the mean time I'm gonna be polishing the rims. Hope to have her up and going again within 2-3 weeks.

As many of you know, I got my car back on the road a while ago. Russ helped me get the new tranny in, and this thing is SWEET. I just pulled out my AC cuz it was broken and just took up space. There is soo much more room in there now too! I also took the AC out of my roommates car today (96 RS).

91B2L you car is SWEET!!! Although, I have not seen it around town. We should meet up sometime. I live up north near Academy and Austin Bluffs.

Later guys,
Jesse

I live up north as well, Briargate and Academy. The picture does my car justice, I need a new paint job. I don't have a job yet, I moved here 2 months ago, so I have plenty of time.

Well if you springs guys are meeting up sometime then you should count me in. Although my firebird is no where near being finisihed(or even started for that matter) I think it would be cool to meet some peeps from the board face to face. I just moved from woodland park to widefield, but i work up north at Cracker Barrel.
