dowel-pinning a damper....
has anyone ever dowel pinned a balancer to a crank snout???
i know they make kits to do it on gen III cranks, because they aren't even keyed from the factory.......but what about on a regular small block snout? Dowel pins are extremely strong, so it seems like a good idea as long as you can do it without weakening the snout.
I'm not looking forward to pulling the motor and taking it apart again to double-key my crank to support the blower, So i was thinking i could dowel pin it somehow to make it stronger.
i was just curious as to if anyone had seen it done or done it themselves and how they went about it.

I'm not aware of anybody that makes a kit for the early SBC's. ATI makes the kit for the GEN III/IV engines, I'd give them a call and see if they can possibly help you out with something.
