..And lastly we have one of the big guns. The old tans Am Series Camaro Wally Dallenbach Jr and Greg Pickett Co-drove back in the early 80's. An acquaintance of mine owns it. He lives up in Grass valley (Northern Calif) and calls me when he comes down my way so I can help him locally.

Yeah... that sound is crap. It sounds like there is a lot of metal on metal contact. Please tell me it doesn't sound like that in person. What camera are you using to make the video?

I agree, that doesn't look too fast. During the first portion it looks like you are just cruising along. Though I have to admit, videos do make things look slower. Even my autocross videos look way slower and less "intense" (for lack of a better word) then what it is really like inside the car.

Can we get pics of the car you were driving?
Mike
All camera quality. I'm sure his car sounds much better in person. Sounds like it can be compared to Sketchy's "The Camaro Drifter's" car.

its a timed run, 1.9 miles in 2min. 11 sec. the camara is a cheapy, one of my sponcers wanted in the car. no it dont sound like that in real life. on the fastest part of the hill i am going just over 100mph.
is it sad that i think i know this racetrack? i think its the legendary laguna seca
Its only one of the most famous corners in existence.
One of the few corners in the world where you can have lateral G, followed by negative g, positive g, and then lateral g again.
And its a STEEP corner. The drop screws with grip, and then as it levels out the increased grip as inertia smashes the car in the pavement is nuts too.
I've watched laps of the ring, and played it in games so much you can drop me just about anywhere on the track and once I see the next corner I can tell you WHERE i am on the track. Too bad i've never actually been there, nor will I probably ever drive on it.
That is probably the most famous corner of any race track in the world. Even after taking that turn thousands of times in Gran Turismo, I will still occasionally lose it in that corner. It takes some insane grip to go through there with some decent speed.
The only race track I've been on was Road America here in Wisconsin. It was in a very well prepared 72 Stingray and it was a blast. I've been collecting some more parts for my car which I plan on putting in along with the 350 this winter so hopefully I'll be out on Road America next Fall. I can't wait!

This is a good demonstration of exactly how steep that corner is. Its also top gear, so yeah, I love it.
Those are Real Racing Wheels. Yes, that is the name of the company. A set of those will set you back about $1600.00. I like the Real wheels but really want a set of CCW's for my autocrosser but they are even more expensive at around $2400.00 for a set. BTW the white and blue Firebird has CCW's
wow!...a 1400 hp 3rd gen roadrace car.....whoa

very cool - how does the car do against the Mustang's and BMWs in the pics??
Obviously well since he is in front of them! Then again... he could just be super slow and they are ready to pass him...
@ BIG_MODS:
You're Stan something or another on FRRAX right? The avatar and other pics look familiar.

It was wet for the first few sessions that day, then it dried up in the afternoon. They kicked my butt in the rain, I kicked their butt when it was dry. I think my corner weights are way off because I get wheel lock up like crazy in the braking zones and thats going to amplified when you have low traction (I have weight jacks, but I've never cornerweighed the car). They are newer cars, so they have ABS. Me being a rusty driver probably has something to do with it too. My car just plain sucks in the rain, but that will get better. I've spend the past couple years building the car so I haven't had but 3 trackdays in the past 3 years so there is tuning and driver improvement needed. But the car is wicked fast, too fast to not have a cage, which I'm putting in now.

dont worry about the rain.
what chassis mods.......???
whoops.....found it at the fbody sport link....wow...that things been modded right out!......is it still street legal?......what does it wiegh?
Legal is a relative term... Street driven? Yes. Planning on keeping the lights and door windows but Lexan front and back. Street clutch and pump gas. Everything else is race.
I haven't weighed the car since it was stock, but based on the weight of other similar race cars I'm expecting it to be around 2900.

This is a true statement. I've spent time in the car on-course and it moves out. There are a few cars that might be slightly faster down the straight (mine is one of them! LOL) but this car's levels of braking and cornering are amazing. Only to be improved once the cage is done and the car is lowered a little more. The amount of grip the car delivers and it's composure over the rough stuff during corner entry is remarkable. I'm excited to see it done.
Do you two ever race at Road America? If so, you need to let me know when you're going to be there so I can come by. I'd love to see your cars and meet the two of you, or even help in the pits.
Mike

if youve pulled all the emissions stuff anyway Im wondering why you went with a pricey and complicated efi set up instead of a built carb engine...????
