Bad Crash last weekend
It isn't thirdgen related, but more safety related. For anyone who wonders why sanctioning bodies have strict rules about safety equipment this is a good example why. And the guy walked away. Pictures are about half-way down the thread.

That car was cherry too. Judging by the amount of damage, I'm sure the owner cried. I know I would.

Re: Bad Crash last weekend
Although it looks like a race car, did the accident happen at a track? Since it's wrapped around a tree, it looks more like it was street driven when the crash happened.
I still feel safer in my car going down the track at 140+ MPH than I do in my truck going down the freeway at 60-70 MPH.

Re: Bad Crash last weekend
It was an eighth mile track somewhere around Dallas called Yellow Belly drag strip. Its a **** poor excuse for a track from what I have heard. Guy lost control and hit the tree around 125mph after the stripe apparantly. Took paramedics over an hour to cut the guy out too. Word is if you have a car faster than 9s in the eighth don't bother going to this place. Don't know why anybody would want to either, theres at least a half dozen REAL tracks around to pick from.

Yeah, Yellow belly's pretty bad. Real good place to get stabbed/shot. Also, as you can tell from this video clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Euap_...eature=related safety is not exactly paramount there. I can't believe the way folks stand within touching distance of the cars in the water box and staging lanes.

Re: Bad Crash last weekend
Its more dangerous than the old airfield where I autocross. On a bad day you might hit a gully washer pothole at the end of a run. Were surrounded by cornfields on all sides and the only really dangerous thing to hit near the track are the pads for the old marker lights that are raised only an inch or two above ground level.

For those who don't know what Yellowbelly Raceway is.....
Here is a link. I bet about 90% of the people are packing heat. Big gambling track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuD9bj1RYLs
Is anyone 100% sure that's where it happened. It looks like it was on the street
